Michael Rock is a teacher, director, performer and writer. His performing credits include Mummenschanz on Broadway; ten years with TheatreSports, Spontaneous Broadway and other improvisation formats as well as many regional, stock and touring productions where he had to actually memorize lines.
As a director, Michael was recently voted "Best Director" at the Aery Theatre's 20/20 Play Festival. He has created musicals for UPenn's Mask & Wig Club, award-winning variety shows for HersheyPark, comedy revues for the Second City Training Center, children’s theatre for Kid Power and others.
He has taught improvisation for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, Theatresports and The Second City Training Center. He currently teaches acting and improvisation for Marymount Manhattan College, CAP 21(NYU), and Comedysportz. He is also a corporate trainer for Performance of a Lifetime, using improvisation to develop and inspire corporate executives.
His play, Musical Chairs, was presented at the New York Fringe Festival and the Pantheon Theater by Yankee Rep. and at Cabrini College in Radnor, PA. He has also written short plays, adaptations and comedy/variety material.
Michael has a degree in Theatre from Penn State and lives in New York City.
