If you haven’t noticed, I am a little bit of a geek. As a matter of fact - I am a geek all the way. I am not the most informed geek in the world, but I am getting a little closer everyday. So why? Why is Mr. Wybrant talking about being a geek and making you do tech stuff? Isn’t this an English class?

Yes. It is. It is really a literacy class though - and the definition of literacy is changing. Don’t believe me? Check out the video above - and the video below. Want to know why you should be paying attention in class? Those are two of your answers.

The Geek Speaks - Part Two

This video is located on the District 11 Department of Instruction website. A question to ask is, “If this is posted on the district website, why can’t we do most of the stuff in the video during class?” Want to get an answer? Don’t ask me - and don’t tell them I told you to ask them. Because I didn’t.

Really, I didn’t.

This video was made by Karl Fisch - the Director of Technology at Arapahoe High School in Denver. He produced this to start a discussion between staff members at his high school about whether teachers are really serving students in the best way. Maybe it will make you think too.

He runs an interesting blog on technology in eduction that you may or may not find interesting. I do, and would encourage you to read at least this blog post.
