Expedition Success! Mr. Honkomp and Mr. Gilbert’s expedition to Mt. Aconcagua reached the summit of the “Stone Sentinel” on December 30th, 2008. The journey was a struggle, but the lessons learned in regards to culture, geology, geography, and mountaineering were endless and will be used by us for the rest of our lives. We have updated this site to reflect our journey...Thanks to ALL who followed along and supported education! On a side note we have traveled throughout the area speaking to a variety of classrooms and organizations...according to Honkomp “we have now spent more time talking and presenting our Mt. Aconcagua adventure than we spent on the mountain”. It has truly been a “blast” sharing our story and have reached over 1,600 people since our return and have many more presentation dates set.
