My Powered Kit
My Powered Kit
Even for someone who loves hand-work, timber preparation is a chore, so some machinery is essential. IN a limited space one really versatile saw is better than lots of specialized ones. The bandsaw will do all kinds of jobs from ripping heavy planks into the desired sizes to intricate shapes in thin timber, and even slicing veneers.
Small bench-top machines are OK - and since splitting my kit between two workshops (hand and machine) I’ve bought one for the hand workshop) but I would never want to go back to depending on such a saw as my only one. A mid-size (or preferably bigger) floor-standing machine will repay every bit of the cost and inconvenience, more than justifying the space it takes up in the shop.
I chose this model as a good all-rounder, but especially attractive were the wheel-kit and the 5-year warranty.
Technical information you can get from Record’s own site, but I find this a good workhorse for a serious amateur user making small furniture, boxes etc.
