This hymn began life as the closing song of the show The Great Big Little One and was sung by the cast as they celebrated their own newly-found strength and determination to live life to the full with its joys, sorrows and contradictions. The congregation was invited to join in.
It has been slightly adapted for use as a congregational hymn and would be very appropriate at Easter.
Tune: The march of the men of Harlech
Life is stretching out before us,
glad and sorry, dull and glorious,
loose and laid-back, fast and furious;
let's all get a life!
Clear the decks for action!
Feel the satisfaction!
Come on down,
the show's in town,
and life's the main attraction.
Let's admit we need each other,
learn to care but never smother,
O the joys we may discover!
Let's all get a life!
Life is coming out to meet us
in the folk who daily greet us,
cheer us, chide us and entreat us,
Let's all get a life!
Love is all around us!
Faith and hope have found us!
Time and space are filled with grace
to challenge and astound us.
Recognize our own deep yearnings,
Open up to life's great learning,
Fan the flame within us burning,
Let's all get a life!
Life is here in all its splendour:
light and dark - the full agenda.
Let us not return to sender,
Let's all get a life!
Love that truly sees us,
faith that holds and frees us,
hope that sings in all the things
that truly, deeply please us.
This is life as we could know it,
Time to live by faith and show it,
Face the fears and hopes that grow it,
Let's all get a life
