Woodrow Lovell was born and raised in urban Kansas City. He spent much of his youth alongside his grandfather and other patrons in the crowded neighborhood barbershop. With the colorful voices and laughter amidst the background sounds of jazz and blues, Woody was fascinated with the environment where men could commune and share the joys and woes of life. In 1987, Woodrow relocated to Hollywood, California. In tow, he brought his recollection of the Kansas City style and old-fashioned traditions of the barbering business. In 1993, he masterminded the BarberShopClub, a 1940”s style destination on Melrose Avenue, where men could get a haircut, straight razor shave, shoeshine and cigar all while enjoying the sweet sounds of jazz and blues. Clients and locals alike could be found chatting politics over a game of chess or watching the latest sports game amongst other sports fans. The BarberShopClub gained mass appeal and global recognition and was listed on Travel & Leisure’s top 10 destination barbershops. Woodrow was noted as one of the top trendsetters in the industry and was featured in numerous publications and media. Woodrow sold The BarberShopClub brand in 2003 and went on to share his trendsetting concepts with others who desired to be a part of the metro sexy trend and total masculine vibe. He was instrumental in the success of many start-up brands such as The Shave of Beverly Hills. While consulting, he successfully created Woody Quality Grooming products and later sold the company. In pursuit of a more organic and simplistic life, Woodrow relocated to San Diego to reside near the ocean, a pleasure that he had enjoyed on weekends for the past 13 years. Enjoying some of the best surf in the world fulltime, he discovered his next passion in life. Woodrow continues his entrepreneurial endeavors through providing hair care services to a limited and exclusive clientele and managing BSC Mobile, a mobile service that brings the original BarberShopClub to your doorstep. He is a surf photographer, avid surfer and family man. He is enjoying life to the fullest.
