This blog features the ongoing activities of WoodwardMUG.

WMUG Meeting Information

Meetings take place on weekdays from 11:15-12:20, during midday study & lunch. Meetings are posted on our iCal. You can visit our online meeting calendar at this link: WoodwardMUG Calendar

Click here for information about our Java SIG (Special Interest Group).

All of our news archives have been added to this BLOG. Check the BLOG archives to see what we’ve done in past years all the way back to 2002.

WMUG Notices
We want everyone to join us for meetings and become members of WoodwardMUG. You do not have to currently be a student in a computer class! Another rumor we'd like to put to rest is that you can only attend meetings if you order our special lunches. That is not true. Everyone should attend. Whether you brown bag it, or order lunch from the school food service, you are welcome and wanted at all of our meetings. Bring your lunch with you!

Podcast Team
We produce podcasts featuring Woodward School News, Events, and Sports. Many podcasting roles need to be filled, and we welcome more participants. If you are interested, stop by the Computer Lab to sign up.

New WoodwardMUG Computer Club shirts and sweatshirts are ready to order!
Assorted styles are available. Stop by the computer lab to see when our next order will be placed so that you may order yours. If you are on the Podcast Team, we have a special logo available for podcastsers.

We are always searching for fundraisers to help us in our quest to buy technology to benefit all the students at the Woodward School. We have discovered that daily beverage and snack sales raise a lot more money than our successful, yet grueling to host, barbecues. Watch for snack sales to continue next year, as well as Friday pizza sales and a fall and spring barbecue. Volunteers make these activities possible.

We have a great line up of guest speakers for this year.
After several successful years of guest speaker programs, we are looking forward to this years' exciting line up of computer industry people. Our iChat presentations by Mac luminaries program is going very well. Read our Meeting News for details.

Form your own iMovieFest Team!
Everyone is encouraged to participate in our MUG sponsored iMovieFest by organizing a team and creating a short film. "Everyone has a story to tell and I'm sure there are several past participants who would join your team to help with producing and editing. Some of this year's films may be presented on the Internet and/or entered into high school film festivals in the US. So now is the time to reach an audience larger than your classmates."

Our Cool Member Contest WILL run again during the school year!: (Hey, does that mean our members are cool, or that the contest is cool?) A surprise from our "Treasure Vault" for the first student member to report on the release of a big hardware change or a completely new product.
Due to the threat of thunder storms, the barbecue was changed to a pizza party. Students had pizza, with chips, ice cream novelties, and a drink. This computer department fundraiser cost $5 per person, but seniors and their six grade “little sisters” were our guests. Proceeds got us a little bit closer to our goal of purchasing Adobe Design Standard for our computer lab.
It was held on Wednesday, May 13th. Tickets were $5. We served hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and veggie burgers; with chips, cookies, and drinks. All students were invited outside to eat and socialize during lunch and midday. We had a great turn out. At the request of our school principal, we will be back with another barbecue on Thurs., May 28th. Special thanks to Mr. G and Mary Cate’s parents for helping out this year.!
Now she travels, talking to as many groups as possible, teaching them some graphics techniques and spreading the word about iStockphoto. In January 2006, she married Shawn King of Your Mac Life at Macworld San Francisco, surrounded by many of their Mac friends. Ms. King will visit this fall.

Cookies and cupcakes were served in honor of the seniors last day of school next Friday, April 3rd. Plans for this spring include our Annual Computer Club Barbecue Party. Announcements for next year included the new one week of community computer service that will be required of each member, new membership requirements, and a proposed slate of guest speakers, including Lesa Snider King. Members in attendance had a great time and leftover cookies and cupcakes were presented to a very happy 6th grade class.
