12/1/2011 - The Penn Yan Police arrested Francis Sindoni, 51, of Geneva early Wednesday morning after a traffic stop in the village.  Sindoni was observed operating a vehicle on South Main Street.  As Sindoni passed the patrol vehicle’s LPR system hit on the vehicle indicating a suspended registration for an insurance lapse.  He was stopped on Elm street and cited for Operating with a Suspended Registration and was issued a ticket to appear in the village court. 


12/1/2011 - Inv. Brad Quayle reports that the Yates County Sheriff’s Department received a referral from the Yates County Dept. of Social Services about an individual not changing her address after moving out of the county.  An investigation revealed that Sarah A. Manchester, 30, of 3 Pleasant Ave., Apt. B moved to 4484 Yautzy Rd., Stanley, NY in February of 2011.  She filed two applications for public assistance with the incorrect information.  She was charged with Offering a False Instrument for Filing and issued an appearance ticket for the village of Penn Yan Court. 


12/1/2011 - Penn Yan Police report that Brian A. Shipkowitz, 47, of Bridge Street, Dundee was charged with issuing a bad check in the amount of $1,287.88 on October 15th, 2011 to Village Auto Works in Penn Yan which was returned for insufficient funds in the account.  Shipkowitz was issued an appearance ticket for the village of Penn Yan court on December 19th.


Keuka Street man charged with DWI, .31% BAC


12/4/2011 -  With the highest BAC I have ever seen, Penn Yan Police arrested Daniel P. Wolf, 23, of Keuka Street, Penn Yan after a vehicle stop on Liberty Street at 1:35am.  Wolf’s vehicle was observed traveling south on Liberty Street where he failed to keep right.  He did have an odor of alcoholic beverage on his person.  He was given several field sobriety test and was found to be intoxicated.  Wolf was placed under arrest and taken to the Yates County Public Safety Building for a breath test that showed to be .31% BAC.  He was given tickets for failure to keep right, DWI, and aggravated DWI.  Wolf will appear in village court on 12/19/2011.

12/4/2011 - Michael J. Labadee, 27, of Leech Rd., Penn Yan was arrested for 2nd degree criminal trespass after a complaint from a village resident that he entered the basement of her apartment without permission.  Officers located Labadee passed out inside the basement.  He was issued an appearance ticket for a later date in village court.

12/5/2011 GLENORA - At about 5:20pm the Yates County 911 Center called out the Dundee Ambulance to 639 South Glenora Rd. for a report that a 5 year old that was injured when lodged between a wagon and a skid steer.   It was reported that the youth was taken inside and did suffer a serious head injury.  Mercy Flight was first placed on standby then the Dundee Fire Department was dispatched to set up a landing zone for Mercy Flight. 

   Per NY State Police reports a 4 year old was on the back of farm equipment, on the family farm, located at 639 South Glenora Road,  when the equipment was struck by another piece of farm equipment.  His father was sitting in second piece of farm equipment when it rolled towards the first piece striking it causing the injury.  The father stated that both pieces of equipment were not running at the time of the accident.  The father of the 4 year old immediately called 911.  EMS and State Police responded and the 4 year old was taken to Schuyler Hospital for a reported head injury and was then airlifted to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse.  


Tractor fire on Toomey Rd.


12/6/2011 - At about 5:10pm the Yates County 911 Center dispatched the Bellona Fire Department to a tractor fire at 1720 Toomey Rd. near the Coleman Rd. in the town of Benton.   The tractor was reportedly 10 feet from a barn.   The Bellona Fire Dept. and the Penn Yan Fire Dept. were both called for mutual aid as well as a tanker out of West Lake Rd.  The fire was reported knocked down at about 5:40pm.


Himrod man charged with harassment


12/8/2011 HIMROD - Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Daniel J. Smith, 24, of 729 South Street, Himrod with criminal obstruction of breathing and 2nd degree harassment after a domestic dispute in which he was alleged to have pushed an individual down onto a bed and choked that person.  Mr. Smith was arraigned in the town of Milo court and released to answer the charges at a later date.

12/8/2011 DRESDEN - The Yates County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic incident on Long Point Rd. in the town of Torrey.  Following an investigation Gary E. Boggio, 37, of Dresden was arrested and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and 2nd degree harassment.  He was arraigned before justice Grace in the town of Benton court and held on bail of $500 of $1,000 bond.  He will appear in the town of Torrey court on December 13th to answer the charge. 


Landmark Wine and Spirits burglarized


12/7/2011 - Penn Yan Police are investigating a burglary to the Landmark Wine and Spirits store that occurred sometime during the evening of overnight hours of November 30th.  During the break in the cash register was taken along with cash and liquor from the store.  Police are asking for assistance from anyone that may have seen anything or that may have other information pertaining to the burglary.  The public can call Inv. Rochester man injured on Voak Rd. MVA


12/9/2011 VOAK - At about 8:30am the Yates County 911 Center dispatched the Gorham Fire Department and the Gorham Ambulance to Voak and Oswald Rd. for a report of a truck in the ditch.  It was reported that Timothy J. Perkins, 57, of Rochester was traveling south on Voak Rd and had to avoid a southbound vehicle in his lane.  His truck exited the west side of the road and struck the ditch.  He was transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital for treatment of a back injury.   


Rt. 247 accident injures  Penn Yan women


12/9/2011 POTTER - At about 7:45am the Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two car MVA on State Rt. 247 and Dunton Rd. in the town of Potter.  An investigation reveled that Tamra M. Scott was driving northbound on 247 when Matthew J. Robinson, 22, of Middlesex, eastbound on Dunton Rd., failed to  stop at the stop sign.  Robinson’s vehicle struck Scott’s vehicle causing it to crash into the ditch.  Robinson’s vehicle came to a rest in the intersection.  Middlesex Ambulance transported Scott to Soldier’s & Sailors Hospital for treatment of head and back pain.  Robinson was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign.  The Middlesex and Rushville fire departments assisted at the scene. 


12/9/2011 - Yates County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ed. Nemitz issued a criminal summons to Robert B. Foley, 53, of Larkwood Ave., Rochester directing him to appear in the village of Penn Yan court to answer the charge of violating the Yates County Occupancy Tax Law.  It is alleged that Mr. Foley failed to file a registration certificate requested by the county treasurer and willfully failed or refused to collect any tax imposed by such law from the occupant(s). 


12/10/2011 - Lisa M. Thomas, 42, of Penn Yan was arrested by Penn Yan Police early Saturday morning after a traffic stop in the village.  The police patrol  vehicle’s LPR system hit on a vehicle she was driving, indicating a suspended registration.  The suspension was confirmed by a DMV check and Thomas was cited for the suspended registration. 


12/11/2011 - Yates County Sheriff’s deputies assisted by Schuyler County responded to a domestic disturbance call on the Bossard Rd. in the town of barrington.  An investigation revealed that Robert Boyce, 52, of 5534 Six Corners Rd., Dundee, during  that domestic incident Mr. Boyce damaged the residence.  He was arrested for 4th degree criminal mischief and arraigned in the town of Barrington court. 


12/13/2011 - Yates County Sheriff’s Dept. received a report of a domestic involving residents at 23 Gilbert Street in the village of Rushville.  Following an investigation of Deputy Killen and NY State Trooper Will, James R. Casillo, 46, of 23 Gilbert Street was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and 2nd degree harassment.  He was arraigned before tow of Potter Justice Bootes and held on bail of $250 or $500 bond.


12/13/2011 -  Penn Yan Police charged Antony J. Travis, 48, of 3 East Main Street with violating the terms of his parole.  Travis was picked up with the assistance of NY State Parole and remanded to the Yates County jail to await arraignment in front of Judge Patrick Falvey.


12/13/2011 - Penn Yan Police charged Tamahara A. Hansen, 27, of Ogden Street with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle 3rd, and operating without a license.  Hansen was stopped on Lake Street in the village after she was observed driving without a license.  While taking her into custody for the traffic offenses officers located a small amount of crushed up Hydrocodone in her possession.  She was issued several tickets and released.
