    <title>Howe Racing Custom Radiator</title>
    <link>http://web.me.com/willm/Site/Photo_Albums/Pages/Howe_Racing_Custom_Radiator.html</link>
<description>Here’s the custom radiator I ordered. The radiator is not as wide as a stock radiator by design. The opening will allow space to route air to the intake.

Here’s the blog post with a lot more info.</description>

<title>This is a cross-flow radiator, with tanks on the left and right hand side. Stock Miata radiators are down-flow, and has tanks at the top and bottom.

The coolant enters at the top left, travels across the top 1/2 of the fins to the top of the right tank, flows down the right tank and then left across the bottom 1/2 section of fins, and then out through the port at the bottom left.

What prevents the coolant from flowing straight down the left tank and avoiding the fins all together? The left tank is divided in two, a top half and bottom half. The division is just above the temp sensor location, which means that the temp sensor is at the top of the bottom half.
The radiator is about 5” shorter (in width) of the stock radiator. I will use open space created by the narrow radiator to route ambient (“cool”) air to the intake.</title>
