Custom Radiator Arrives

I ordered a custom radiator exactly eight days ago, and it arrived today.  Howe Racing was very easy to deal with, and given that my custom build was not that radical, they were able to build my radiator to order and ship it very quickly.

The radiator is a cross flow, with both inlet and outlet on the driver side.  This should work nicely with my coolant re-route, as I would prefer to run the upper hose down the exhaust side of the engine and away from the ITBs.

There is an oil cooler in the right tank.  This was an option I wasn’t 100% sure about, but figured it would be better to have and not use than not have and need.  i need to order an oil filter sandwich plate and -10AN hose and fittings to couple to the cooler’s -10AN fittings.

I was originally inspired to go with an in-tank cooler for its ability to pre-heat engine oil.  To date I have not run an oil temperature gauge, but I have noticed that on a cold engine, coolant temps raise to operating way before oil pressure settles down to “hot” pressures.

The new gauges will help determine if this is a good idea or bad.  I suppose I could always run an external oil cooler in series with the in-tank cooler via a thermostat.  The in-tank cooler would help get the oil up to operating temps and the external cooler will kick open when oil temps reach 180°.  But I digress.  Perhaps I should first get the fricken’ engine installed and running.
