At one time, Lester Seal at Apex Automotive Engineering (Miata specialty shop), designed and fabricated plastic gauge pods for Miatas.  These pods are moulded to fit right on top of 1990-1997 Miata factory center console.  The plastic texture and color matches the stock dash too, which is a nice touch.

Lucky for me, Les is not only my mechanic, but a friend.  He is well aware of my project and offered one of the few remaining gauge pods he had left.  That particular gauge pod was cut and ready to accept two 2 5/8” gauges.  Unfortunately, all of my gauges are 2 1/16”.

With help from my friend Gordon, we made a aluminum mounting plate for three gauges and modified the Apex gauge cluster to fit.

The project isn’t quite done, but most of the work is done.  Lots of pictures and info so far.
