Head’s Up

I checked in with Dana on Wednesday and went by his shop to drop off some parts.  Dana had measured a few different springs and helped me pick out the right ones to use, more on that later.

In the mean time, Dana started closing up the stock fuel injector holes.  The TWM throttle bodies relocate the injectors to the airhorns, which is a good thing.  The extra distance between the injectors and the intake port will help fuel atomize.  The old injector ports need to be closed off.  If they were just plugged, the recess left behind would leave a hole and uneven surface, which could cause turbulence to the incoming air, and that’s a bad thing.

Dana will put a pipe fitting where the injectors holes and will epoxy them from the inside of the head.  He’ll smooth out the area to make it as if there was never a hole there, which is a good thing. ;o)

While there, Dana is also touching up the valve job as there were some specs on the valves and valve seats.  In his words, he’ll make it “perfect”.  Dana is also going to do a little more porting on the head, as the original porting job was aimed toward a forced induction engine, not the high-revving naturally aspirated engine I’m planning.
