Bangladesh opened the team event tonight with a loss, falling to India 3-0.
Vikas Jangra - IND beat Shahidul Islam - BAN 3-0
This was a match worth forgetting for the very nervous Islam. Unable to settle and keep his feet beneath him, he repeatedly crushed the ball into the tin and generally looked uncomfortable. It was his first match and was pleasantly surprised at the opportunity to step in as an alternate (playing #4 position on the 3-man team). By the time he began scoring points and applying pressure with some basic squash, it was far too late. Match to Jangra.
Ravi Dixit - IND beat Raju Ram - BAN 3-0
This was a fantastic match and I am happy to report of it, even though it was a loss for Raju. Playing Dixit (India #1 at age group) is no easy task, but Raju tried very hard and made some wonderful shots. This was a great experience for him as he lost in three very close games. These are building blocks for Raju and I am sure he will build upon it even during the remainder of these games.
Sandeep Jangra - IND beat Shopon Pervez - BAN 3-0
I am eager to see Shopon play a full, consistent match, but it wasn’t to happen today. Jangra’s racket abilities are world class and Shopon couldn’t counter him today. A good experience for our players in the midst of a loss.
