Finals: CRC A vs Bangladesh A
Finals: CRC A vs Bangladesh A
Friday, January 22, 2010
After going relatively unchallenged throughout the tournament, both teams looked to be on equal footing, but experience outclassed youth today at the Calcutta Racket Club in the finals of the CRC - Bangladesh Friendly tournament, with the CRC A team victorious over the Bangladesh A team.
Kavi Seth (CRC) bt Raju Ram (Bd A), 3-1
In a rather mundane final, Ram showed his nervousness by sticking to the same shots which Seth quickly anticipated and countered with pressure on the young Bangladeshi. In spite of taking a game and moving more fluidly on court, Ram could not close out the points and conceded the match to the more experienced and precise Seth.
Dalip Tripathi (CRC) bt Masud Rana (Bd A), 3-0
Perhaps the best player of the tournament, Tripathi used all sorts of deception to keep Rana off balance and often flat footed. Rana put up a valiant fight in games 2 and 3, but could not overcome the precision and confidence of Tripathi. His lethal combination of speed, precision and deception wowed the crowd and had everyone guessing where the ball was going.
Ramit Tandon (CRC A) bt Shopon Pervez (Bd A), 3-0
Coming into form after recent performances at the British and Scottish Opens, top player and former Junior World Champion Ramit Tandon took his game to Shopon Pervez who simply made too many mistakes against a great player. Tandon initially found himself in the back court, only to get out with clever shots on loose balls from Pervez, then took the game to the front. Pervez continued his power game but only got looser where Tandon was able to put points away while tiring out Pervez.
