Adam’s website

Adam comes from the Hebrew word ‘Adama’ which means ‘earth’ or ‘man’. According to Biblical accounts Adam was made from the red earth of Eden.

My Mummy’s name also means stone and she’s named after the ‘rose red city’ of Petra.

Daddy has assured me that my name has nothing to do with a certain Commander of a Battlestar. I obviously believe him.

And my name is absolutely nothing to do with Mummy’s teenage crush on Adam Ant either. I’m so glad about this.

Thady? Err...

Thady is an old Irish name that means ‘Praise’. My folks’ distant families are from the Emerald Isle so they thought it would be fitting for me. I expect plenty of ‘Real Slim Thady’ jokes in later life.

And my other name is...

Thando. This was suggested to Mummy and Daddy by their friends in South Africa and it means ‘Love’. I’m going to use it on our next visit.

So for my Xhosa speaking friends...
