You can have many different experiences here; share a meal in an architectural gem, eat a variety of international foods and enjoy a wide range of tea. Boulder has a treasure. As the ultimate sister-city gift Dushanbe, Tajikistan built, disassembled, shipped to America and reassembled this authentic central Asian teahouse, completed in 1998. Set alongside a small creek and open space interspersed with roses, the lively setting feels like the community, visitor and cultural heart of town. An assortment of teas are available from many vendors and a few they have blended themselves. They serve a large and varied fare ranging from Orange Focaccia French Toast for breakfast to Mexican Pork tacos to Persian Vegetarian Kooftah Balls – it’s a completely intercontinental menu. Both the exterior and interior are prime examples of Persian art. Carved, white plaster panels cover the walls and multicolored paintings embellish the ceiling. The light-filled teahouse holds a variety of traditional Tajik furniture - mosaic, wood and painted tables intermixed with western style tables and chairs. In the center the Seven Beauties bronze sculpture adds a stunning natural water feature. There is truly something for most of us here; everyone would enjoy a visit to this unique teahouse.
Instantly likeable, this modern place for tea offers approximately 60 teas and a great spot to enjoy them. My husband and I were happy to find free wireless as we settled in for an impromptu work session. I chose a house blend, Boulder Blues, made of Japanese and Chinese green teas with strawberry and rhubarb. My coffee-drinking husband enjoyed their Crème Caramel Tea Latte. The service was pleasant and the atmosphere relaxed. Silver tins of tea cover one full wall and the others are bathed in warm plums, beige and sage with just the right amount of contemporary lighting. A large, flat stone fountain adds a natural element to the space. We will definitely return.
