Start of last Phases in Hepatitis B Vaccination Campaign

From 14th until 17th of December the last phases of the Hepatitis B Vaccination Campaign for children between 7 to 17 years old started in the remaining 4 provinces of Jakang, South and North Hamkyong and Ryankang. During this first round we visited Primary and Middle Schools at Huichon, Kowon, Hamheung and Cheongpyeong where the vaccination teams were at work. Additionally the storage facilities for the vaccine were observed at the medical stores of Hamheung City, South Hamheung Province, Kowon, Cheonpyeong, Huichon and Tongsin Districts.

Completion of 9 Solar Greenhouses

During the last visit end of October, beginning of November all 9 locations of solar greenhouses at TB- and Hepatitis centers wre visited. The constructions were completed and vegetable production had already started. Additionally to solar greenhouses the installations of 53 normal greenhouses at 20 care centers in different provinces was started. Training courses for management of the greenhouses will be conducted through our local counterparts.
At Wonsan we handed over materials for a new provincial CDC laboratory. In close distance we stepped over to the Boarding School and paid a short visit to the children.
The small chicken farm for the TB laboratory at the MOPH TB Hospital is almost ready. The new truck for the mobile beekeeping will be of use nextz springtime when honey production will start.

Solar Greenhouses in Construction

Beginning of September we visited the project sites at Wonsan (TB-Hospital and Hepatitis-Hospital), South Hamkyong (Hamheung TB Care Center) and Pyongyang (HOPH TB Hospital, Ryongsong TB Care Center) where the construction of the solar greenhouses were in their final state.
Furthermore at Wonsan we could observe the new drinking water delivery service. The two motorbikes which we had provided deliver regularly water bottles to the households in the nearer and also farer distance.

New Greenhouse Construction Project

With German Government funds we will start a new program phase. Beginning of June we discussed with our local counterpart, the Ministry of Public Health, and our collaborating partner, German Agro Action, the construction of solar greenhouses at TB and Hepatitis centers.
At Songsan TB center we observed that our small tractor, the soymilk machine and the supplied microscope are of good use.
