Beginning of February North Korean Ministry of Public Health started a Hepatitis B Vaccination Campaign for 500.000 children in Pyongyang area. CI-DPRK Program provides vaccine and syringes. At kindergarten and primary and middle schools 1.600 teams of doctors and nurses vaccinated in 3 days the children between 07 and 17 years old. The vaccination has to be repeated twice after one and two months.

North Korea started again the regular HB vaccination for newborns in 2004 which means that children born before have no protection. Hepatitis B is mainly transmitted from mother to child during pregnancy.
