Caritas Germany / POM - DPRK Program is a program of international cooperation directed with the following objectives.
Caritas Germany / POM - DPRK Program links humanitarian aid with the support and development of social structures in North Korea.
Caritas Germany / POM - DPRK Program implements subprojects in direct cooperation with North Korean counterparts and in cooperation with alliance partners.
Caritas Germany / POM - DPRK Program promotes cooperation with interested initiatives inside and outside the Catholic Church, inside and outside South Korea.
Caritas Germany / POM - DPRK Program is administrated in consideration of high standards for transparency and efficiency.
Caritas Germany / POM - DPRK Program operates along four strategical areas:
1.Supplementary food aid to strengthen the physical constitution especially of sick persons, including children and elderly persons. With a middle- to longterm perspective local food production is promoted to supply sufficient protein- and vitamin-rich food to residents in social centers.
2.Improvement of health services by assisting health services in dealing with the challenges of communicable diseases like Tuberculosis and Hepatitis B. Selected health centers receive support for infrastructural improvements. Its staff is supported with training in specific fields.
3.Support to social service providers for persons with disabilities, children and elderly persons by improving their services, infrastructure and strengthening of professional resources.
4.Expansion of own aid network by sharing information and experiences and generating sufficient financial support for a sustainable cooperation.
