Third Grade

Woodstock Elementary

Woodstock, Vermont

Throughout the fall, early winter, and late spring of the 2008 - 2009 school year Mr. Mumford and Mr. Souter’s third graders of Woodstock Elementary School, Woodstock, VT, immersed themselves in a science unit of study focused on the major water systems found within their immediate community. These included the Ottauquechee River, Pogue, Pogue Brook and Kedron Brook.

Upon completion of this unit students gained a more thorough understanding and appreciation of how their actions are connected to the health of the environment.

Woodstock’s rich cultural heritage and diverse environmental composition provided wonderful opportunities for students to experience a wide range of educational activities while exploring its natural resources and digging into its past.
