Silver Dollar Speedway - RACE RECAP July 31st, 2009
Robby Sawyer raced Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California. Eighteen cars started the twenty-five lap main event and Sawyer started in the fifth position. Sawyer fell back several positions early in the race due to a strange incident where a large dirt clod came through the front window of his racecar. The dirt clod made contact with the face of his helmet sending him scrambling to make adjustments to his helmet. Once adjustments where made he regained his speed working his way back to the front of the pack. The caution free main event caused the field to be spread out and Sawyer took home a respectable seventh when the checkered flag fell.
Marysville Raceway Park - RACE RECAP August 1, 2009
Marysville Raceway Park brought out a competitive night of racing in addition to family and friends who live in the area coming out to support Robby. Robby did a great job running against some local champions and other local drivers who compete regularly at the clay oval. Sawyer started second row outside of the qualifying heat race and finished third. The third place finish gave him a pole postion in the 25 lap main because of an invereted draw of position. There were 14 cars that took the green flag and Sawyer finished third place when the checkered fell. The race team was very pleased with the finish. The trip to the Northern Cal tracks offered Robby an opportunity of new tracks as well as running a new motor. "We are happy with the third place," said Sawyer in a post race interview. The team has plans to race again soon and the date will be posted here on the website.
