ほぼ10ヶ月をかけて制作されたこのアルバムは、７０年代風のロックとバラエティにとんだバラードから構成されています。

Yukihikoの曲作りのコンセプトはシンプルで気持ちのよいメロディ。

このアルバムでは、このコンセプトの上にロックやボサノバ、ジャズといったエッセンスをまぜて多彩な曲に仕上げました。

Chocky@bud spent 10 months for 'A kiss at 42 degrees C', which contains 70's rock and a variety of ballad songs.

Simple and soothing melodies are the basic concept of Yukihiko, the composer.

He composed this album by blending flavors of rock, bossa and jazz on it.

The Band 風に仕上げたロックです。

2本のリズムギターにちょっとくだけたブラスを乗せてあります。コーラスは中期のビートルズを意識しています。

This tune has The Band flavor with catchy brass sounds on two rhythm guitars.

Male chorus may be reminiscent of the Beatles.

[ Mescalito ]

Beegees風のコーラスから始まる軽快なバラード。

歌詞もメロディもシンプルで馴染みやすように心がけました。その分、転調やポーズを入れて単調にならないようにアレンジしてあります。

A ballad starting with a chorus like The BeeGees.

Plain and catchy song but modulation and pause in the later part are ideas to make this tune not too simple.

[ 42℃のキス (A kiss at 42 degrees C) ]

Mihoのボーカルをフューチャーした現代風のボサ。このアルバムのタイトル曲でもあります。

前作の記念日にしようで軽快にスウィングしてくれたMihoがこの曲では、抑え気味にやさしく少しセクシーに歌い上げています。

Yukihikoのコーラスは聞こえるか聞こえないか・・・限界まで控えめにしてあります。

A contemporary bossa nova featuring Miho's vocal.

Miho sang softly and a little bit sexy with her low, stifled tone.

Yukihiko's chorus is also more low-key to harmonize with her.

[ 呼吸困難 (Dyspnea) ]

10年前に録音されたオリジナル音源にエッジの効いたTelecasterを追加し、ファンキーなドラムに差し替えました。どこかにノスタルジックな雰囲気を感じてもらえればうれしい。

非常に強いメッセージの歌詞はNatsukoさんが提供してくれました。10年前のYukihikoのボーカルをどうぞ。

This tune is a remix version of the original one recorded in 2000.

Edgy Telecaster sounds were added and funky drum sounds were replaced to.

Lyrics with strong messages were written by Natsuko Takeuchi.

[ 時計 (Your watch someday) ]

讃美歌風のバラード。

シンプルですが、じっくりと時間をかけて作り込んでいます。ピアノと2本のアコギのアンサンブルにこだわりました。

全編を流れるピアノ演奏は、とても気に入っているSpectrasonicsのサンプリングで、いつかこれを土台にバラードを作りたいと思っていました。

とてもいい演奏なので、各パートの質、ボーカルやコーラスも含め気を使いました。

A ballad with hymn style. You may find it's a very simple song but Chocky@bud took so much time for this.

Ensemble of the piano and two acoustic guitars is a key foundation for this ballad.

[ Cochilo (うたた寝) ]

一つだけJazzを入れたくて作りました。

変化に富んだコード進行ですが、上に乗せるメロディは極力シンプルにしています。

例えば、「曲がりくねってもいつかたどり着く」で、一音ずつ上げて行くところ。そして、「tiny lullaby for you」では同音の繰り返しで、と言ったように。

意外に思われるかも知れませんが、全編で演奏されるギターはTelecasterです。

This is a piece that incorporates jazz.

Has complex chord progressions but you can find quite plain and charming melodies on it.

Yukihiko played the 63‘s Telecaster in this tune, not a Gibson full acoustic !

[ The Last One ]

いくつもの種がこの世から姿を消そうとしています。

全部が人間のせいだとは言いませんが、乱獲、伐採、戦争・・・。

身勝手な私たちの欲望が彼らを永遠に葬ったケースは少なくはないでしょう。

そして今日もどこかで。。。

怒りをもったNatsukoさんのオリジナルの歌詞に呼応した、ハードなバージョンもありましたが、結局、シャウトせずに抑えたボーカルであえて訴えてみました。

Many species has been eliminated without natural selection.

By overhunting, tree trimming and by wars...

Natsuko originally wrote a lyric with anger about this, which encouraged Yukihiko to make a new song to give warning.

The final take in this album is milder than some takes recorded before with shouted vocals but this must have a stronger power to appeal in contrast.
