Caloric restriction (CR) is a biological process which leads to the extension of maximum lifespan, and prevents age-associated diseases. The relationship between reduced food intake and increased length of life was a concept first described in the 20th century by Osbourne et al (1917). Since then, a catalogue of studies have been completed with the hope of discovering more on this fascinating topic.
