Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and a set of musically inclined parents made up the early influences of her singing career. A prodigy of sorts, she started singing and playing the piano at the early age of six inspired by a home atmosphere that continually permeated with talk and practice of jazz music. Her father, a composer, arranger and played jazz on the piano in Japan, Okinawa and Las Vegas and her mother, a well-known jazz singer, Gloria Larsen performing in Hong Kong’s Paramount Night Club.
She continued her goal for music and continued to learn composition and voice lessons at the University of St. Thomas and St. Paul’s College in the Philippines. It came as no surprise at all to both her parents when she embarked on her own singing career, joining a host of singing contests, using them as stepping stones to her musical career.
Winning a prestigious Star Search Contest back home finally brought her some recognition. And since then became a regular guest at various TV Shows. In her early teens she was chosen to be the youngest singer/actor for a Live Musical Broadway Show called “Vaudeville” which ran every Sunday night on TV for three years. She was selected the representative for the ASIAN Countries Tour and performed with other stars in Asia. This exposure brought her to the attention to perform at some of Manila’s premier five-star hotels like Hyatt, Hilton, Mandarin Hotel, Manila Hotel and Inter-Continental. A recording contract with Blackgold Records and Villar Records singing her own compositions, “I was only Dreaming” and “I guess” capped her career.
Then the millennium happened. She got married and moved on to the U.S. and continues her passion for music. Since then has performed at the Scottish Rite Theatre, Metreon Theatre and Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco.
