Neysis started to play the violin at the age of seven in her native country of Cuba. She continued her musical studies in the United States at the New World School of Arts, where she achieved numerous awards and was a Florida Bright Future scholar. Neysis served as the concertmaster for the Florida All State Orchestra. Neysis graduated Summa Cum Laude from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, and received a Masters in Music Performance from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has been the recipient of several other awards, including the First Prize winner of the Tuesday Musical Association of Ohio. Her former teachers include Andrés Cárdenes, and Cathy M. Robinson.
As a recitalist and orchestral musician Neysis has collaborated with acclaimed conductors and musicians abroad. She has performed with the New World Symphony, Miami Symphony Orchestra, Florida Grand Opera, Wheeling Philharmonic, Erie Philharmonic, Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, National Repertory Orchestra, Berkeley Symphony, and Modesto Symphony. Neysis has been a participant of the Sewanee Music Festival, Hot Springs Music Festival, and National Repertory Orchestra Festival. She is a founding member of the ViBO string quartet, and plans on releasing the quartet’s first album of original arrangements in 2011.
In addition, Neysis has been a devoted teacher for over eight years. She is the orchestra teacher at KIPP King Collegiate High School, string sectional teacher at Oakland School of Arts, and she is also a private violin instructor at ViBO Music Center. Her students have performed in recitals and orchestra concerts.
