Janet Lee was born in Busan, South Korea and came to United States when she was 12 years old and has been in SF Bay Area most of her life. She originally began her piano studies at the age of 8 and became a featured piano soloist with Presidio Middle School orchestra in San Francisco. In her high school years, she continued to be very active with George Washington High School Music programs as well.
Janet holds Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she studied with Mack McCray and was awarded scholarship. She has performed numerous recitals and has participated in master classes with Gilbert Kalish, Beth Miller Harrod, and Garrick Ohlsson among other noted musicians. She has won several competitions including Junior Bach Festival, placed 2nd place in Korean Daily Newspaper in Korea and was a piano concerto competition winner of Rocky Ridge Music Festival where she had been awarded scholarship.
Throughout her career, Janethas also been working as a piano accompanist playing for various instrumental recitals, singer recitals and church venues. In addition to running her private piano studio, she has worked with institutions such as Music City Academy and Serramonte Music Center in the SF Bay Area where she has amassed a dedicated following of students. She has concentrated over 20 years of her life to the art of piano teaching. She particularly enjoys the challenge of musically inspiring all ages and all levels of students.
Outside of her music life, she also holds Master of Science from Academy of Chinese Culture Health and Science and is a California licensed Acupuncturist.
