Rich MacDonald

Dr. MacDoanld, or Rich as students address him, directs the Winona State University Jazz Program.He teaches jazz improvisation and directs both the WSU Jazz Ensemble and the Dixie Midnight Runners. Besides teaching, he also performs regularly as a jazz drummer and vibraphonist in the southeast Minnesota and western Wisconsin regions. His resume includes an impressive list of performance and recording credits, including playing alongside Milt Hinton, Slide Hampton, Arturo Sandoval, George Benson and Eddie Daniels among others. Rich has been teaching at the college level since 1984. He holds Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Education degrees from the University of North Texas, and the Doctor of Arts degree in Percussion Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Northern Colorado.
