“It looked like at some time we stopped living our faith and started
studying it”. After reading this which is a great point people assume
that we should start new not because it is the thing to do but because it is easy. But you can't reinvent the wheel, Christianity isn't broken we are. All the people that are on fire for GOD start saying they are no longer Christian what message does that send our people. I say “our people” because we have to take ownership of the problem to fix it. Rather then assuming that making up some kind of new or “emerging” thing will fix the problem. Now to the point how this reminds me of my car: i have a 96 Acura Integra that needed a lot of work and i put a lot into it. When i tell other people i put a lot of work into it the usual response is why not get another one. I like the car always have and wanted to make that car the good car i know it could be but it would take time and sacrifice in this case money put into the car. In that same way CHRISTianity needs on fire people putting time and sacrifice into it to change people’s perception of our faith. I for one will stand for our faith our GOD has not change and we don’t need some fancy thing to make it happen. I have nothing against new movements I just don’t think they are necessary. We need to fix what is already a good thing. We cant make things our god but we tend to make ideologies god’
"The hilarious words of nineteenth-century Danish philosopher Søren
Kierkegaard resonated in my thirsty soul:"
"The matter is quite simple. The Bible is very easy to understand. But
we Christians are a bunch of scheming swindlers. We pretend to be unable
to understand it because we know very well that the minute we
understand, we are obliged to act accordingly. Take any words in the New
Testament and forget everything except pledging yourself to act
accordingly. My God, you will say, if I do that my whole life will be
ruined. How would I ever get on in the world? Herein lies the real place
of Christian scholarship. Christian scholarship is the Church’s
prodigious invention to defend itself against the Bible, to ensure that
we can continue to be good Christians without the Bible coming too
close. Oh, priceless scholarship, what would we do without you? Dreadful
it is to fall into the hands of the living God. Yes, it is even dreadful to be alone with the New Testament.", [The Irresistible Revolution]
