All submissions must be received electronically and must include author’s concise biographical information – 
four lines.

Essays, poems, short stories, in Word format. Not exceeding 2,500 words, send to editor@balancingthetides.com
If previously published, contributors are responsible for notifying BTT and securing all permissions and rights.

Artwork:
Paintings, images of sculptural work, photography, etc. must be available in 300dpi, JPG or TIFF, c.7x8” size files, CMYK format. Some cropping may be required. Artists may send digital files, or a web link, of painting, sculpture, furniture, painting or photography along with caption info to include medium, and format information. Images must carry a file name including volume number, artist's last name and image number, ie. volume4wadson1.jpg. Please also send a contact sheet of thumbnails if you submit more than five images. Flat art scanning is available beginning at $75 per scan. Our editors and designers lay out material for a harmonious whole in both color and black and white, please specify if your work can only run in color, which will limit your presence in the book. Send artwork to publisher@balancingthetides.com, 

The editors will review each submission and will reply with feedback so please include current contact information, and we may suggest editorial services for you to perfect your writing should a little polishing be of interest. Please note depending on the quantity of submissions not all work may be published.

Balancing the Tides is published by Many Birches Press, Volume V is due out in May 2009. We are devoted to exploring Newport County and its environs through art and literature. Retailers and advertising opportunities are listed on the website. www.balancingthetides.com
