Tom Aprile
Tom Aprile is a sculptor and tenured Associate Professor at the University of Iowa in the Sculpture Area. He received his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1976 and his MFA from Syracuse University in 1978. Professor Aprile has been the recipient of many honors and awards including two Pollock/Krasner Foundation Fellowships in 1986 and 1989, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in 1990, a Fulbright Scholarship to Nigeria in 1992 and several art colony residencies, such as Yaddo, the Edward Albee Foundation Fellowship, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the Tyrone Guthrie Center in Ireland.
He has had many one person shows in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles in commercial galleries, as well as in university galleries and museums across the country, Europe and Asia. He has also had his work shown in many juried and invited exhibitions on the East Coast and the Midwest.
