They Made Me a Liar
They Made Me a Liar
Yesterday, I happened upon an article from the Huffington Post reposted on the blackchristiannews.com titled “Was Racism on Display at 'Taxpayer March?'” by one Earl Ofari Hutchinson. The article goes to great lengths to create the idea that all opposition to Obama is racially motivated and he mentions that he saw signs on display at the 912 March last weekend that featured such heady slogans as; (he describes them)
“Packs of taxpayer marchers shuffled down Pennsylvania Avenue proudly waving signs. ‘The Long Legged Mack Daddy,’ ‘Where's the Birth Certificate’,’ Mississippi Freedom Riders,’ ‘Whoa Boys Take it from Here’ (Obama waving to black and Islamic militants). Many defiantly waved Confederate flags and the Texas state flag (separatist movement emblem).”
This is possible, as a plague that targets those of us predisposed to conservative thinking that I like to call, “The Obama Strain” has proven to be as mind numbing as the most virulent cases of “Bush Derangement Syndrome” proved to be on the liberal citizens of our fair nation. There are always extreme nitwits that represent the worst in the world. Just because the liberals showed how hateful you can be when you oppose someones politics, it does not follow that we should emulate them.
We can debate the issues without revilement and we have the added advantage of not having to make up out of whole cloth fictitious stories, concocting wild tales of Bolsheviks carrying hammer and cycle flags at the pro Obama rallies, like the lefts swastika toting nazis fantasies at the tea parties.
Mr. Hutchinson goes on to criticize Sen. Joe Wilson, all but calling him the kleagle of his local klavern:
"Wilson's proud battle to preserve, as he proudly noted, the flag that typifies "our heritage" is par for the course for GOP racist-tinged politics in South Carolina. And Wilson swims squarely in the mainstream of that brand of race politics with other GOP politicians in the state. On September 12, he had good company from legions of taxpayer marchers."
What the Huffington Post Writer fails to note is that the flag was placed there in 1962 by the Democrats. Republicans hadn't been in power in SC since reconstruction. Though I have to admit that I would find it impossible to offer an apologetic for Mr. Wilson’s stand on the Confederate flag, especially when it was raised for a singular purpose and it wasn’t celebration. I find it interesting that Black Christian News so often prints articles from the Huffington Post, one of the most hateful websites online, carefully avoiding the myriad articles there that are openly hostile to Christianity. I have yet to see an article by Thomas Sowell, Alan Keyes or heaven forbid Shelby Steele.
There is always a fringe in every movement that represents the worst in people, the anti-big government protests are not immune to ugliness, but that ugliness is not normative like Mr. Hutchinson portrays. There are not legions of racists at these rallies; clearly exemplified by the number of Black speakers who took part in the weekend, like Mason Weaver, Deneen Borelli, Lloyd Marcus, Rev C.L. Bryant, Charles Lollar, Angela McGlowan who actually spoke twice, just to name a few who addressed the crowd to thunderous applause at the rally.
Incidentally, Mr Hutchinson’s article on the Huffington Post was moderated and all comments subject to approval before posting, a phenomenon that I have never seen on a large conservative site. My comment, which I can assure you was free of bad language or objectionable material was not accepted, though the same message was allowed on blackchristiannews.com which was also moderated.
Just like the MSNBC attempt to frame the protest outside of Obama’s speech before the VFW in Arizona as a gathering of gun carrying white racists, this article works to divert the issue and marginalize the opposition.
Here we find that MSNBC carefully edited the footage to fit their narrative of racism. Those of us who watched the coverage of the Arizona event on Fox, knew that the most outspoken guy carrying a gun at the rally, the first guy that MSNBC shows in their footage cropped to hide his race, was in fact a black guy, there to emphasize Americans right to resist tyranny. When MSNBC was called on their very obvious race baiting, the response was a deafening silence.
No one displays fear and trembling at the idea of open debate more than liberals, whether it be embryonic stem cells, climate change or healthcare, the liberals fire up their media machine and do all they can to avoid competative ideas, because it is more about ideology for the liberal than what is ultimately true and good for America. They talk of loving America, it just isn’t the America that is. They love the America of their fevered dreams, the America that will have a bidet next to every toilet and a passion for soccer (as long as everyone gets to play and no one loses).
Everyone recognizes that our healthcare system needs to be reformed, The majority of Americans oppose the Obama plan. The truth that the media is so desperately trying to hide is that these rallies are populated by all races and political affiliations; drawn together by a mutual fear of an out of control government. When leftist media outlets like MSNBC and Mr. Hutchinson for the Huffington post paint everything with a brush of racism, it has the effect of squashing debate which is by definition tyrannical and extremely unhealthy for our nation.
The left regularly called Bush a liar without proof, the left lies and gets caught over and over again. I know the Bible and the Ten Commandments are like kryptonite to the vast majority of democrats, especially those that dominate the media, but here’s one that I think the whole country would benefit from if they gave it some thought.
“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.” Exodus 20:16
Especially when there is more than one outlet covering the same story LOL!
