Sadly, I attended the funeral of the mom of one of my students from last year. She passed away unexpectedly and left a 6 and 4 year old. Broke my heart to be there and made me appreciate again the many blessings God has bestowed on me and my family. I couldn’t be more grateful for the people in my life.

On that note, I really want to cherish every moment with my son. We read about the Tower of Babel tonight and then my son prayed “Dear Jesus, thank you for me and Mommy, and Daddy, and cars that drive down the road, and babies to be born, and for corrections. We love you, Amen.” Thank you God for this precious boy and whatever amount of time you give me with him.

Today is my birthday and it was wonderful even though I was working. :) It seems like whenever Shane and I get a night out, we go to dinner and a movie. It’s become the comfortable usual date thing for us. Shane changed things up this year. He told me this morning that we were going to a seafood buffet (I LOVE seafood) and would do some shoe shopping for me. Gotta love that! He even found a babysitter for us (Thanks Jeff and Wendy). It was awesome! We had a great meal at Casino Arizona-perfect buffet. I’m cheap when it comes to spending money at a casino so I like the penny slots if I play anything at all. We only had $10 cash on us and I stood in line to play the 1 cent Wheel of Fortune slots. One lady won $75, cashed out and we sat down. At $4.50 left, Shane told me we were going to be done fast. The next spin, I won $200! Shocking! What a blessing! We were planning on getting some new boots (since mine are all ripped apart inside) and this is going to obviously cover it and then some. This all came after my amazing class gave me a massive gift card to go get a massage and facial. The first and only massage I’ve ever had was the week before my wedding and I can’t wait. It’s been a blessed day and I’m so grateful that God has given me the husband, son, family, and friends I have.

Shane and I were wondering if we should have waited another year to have Jackson begin soccer. The first game, he cried, wouldn’t go on the field, and threw the most embarrassing fit that we left halfway through. The 2nd game was this past weekend. Wow-what a difference. I was happy that he stood on the field with his hands behind his back watching everyone run around him (the video above). Then, it clicked. His coach got him running and kicking. He scored 4 goals and was sad when he wasn’t the one to score. Shane tried explaining to him that when someone in the black uniform kicked it in, it was just as good as him doing it. He doesn’t quite get that yet. He was sad too when he had to sit out and let someone else from his team in. Sounds like we may have created a monster. Sportsmanship or playing with others is what we need to focus on now. He’s so cute in his black uniform and LOVES snack time at the end. I luckily got his first ‘goal’ on tape. YEAH!!! So fun!

To see a few pics, click here.
