Hawaii Music Awards
We are all aware of the changes in the way music is being produced and marketed. It started with vinyl, changed to tape, then CDs and now recorded music is in the digital domain. A growing number of current and future buyers of music are downloading instead of driving to the stores to purchase a hard copy of your music.
Hawaii Music Awards is a marketing project designed to expose Hawaii’s musicians to an alternative audience via the internet. For fourteen years we have done so breaking new ground with great success. And so Hawaii Music Awards is once again adapting to a new format of recognizing music and musicians starting this fiscal year. We will no longer be exclusive to musicians who record only to CDs, but instead recognize musicians for their style of music they perform and/or record. Including recognizing those who excel in the new way of doing business and promotions in the digital domain.
Award Categories:
Most Popular Musical Groups (30 categories)
Bands, Vocalist, Recording Artist can submit their CDs, Digital
Songs and/or recorded Live Performances and qualify for one
category that best represents their style of music.
Best New Artist
A selection committee will decide on the three top nominees for New
Artist to be submitted to the online ballot.
Best Liner Notes
Local News Publication writers will select the winner.
Best Album Artwork
Artist and Fashion designers “2 Couture” will select the winner.
Best Music Videos
A selection committee of video editors and producers will select the
winner(s).
Best Music Website
A selection committee will select the winner(s).
Entertainer of the Year
A selection committee will select the top three nominees.
Lifetime Achievement Awards
Past Honorees may submit candidates for future consideration.

Hawaii Music Awards started in 1995 as a new concept to support Hawaii’s recording industry, an internet based awards program to take advantage of the international outreach capabilities for marketing and promotional support for the newly released recordings by Hawaii and Hawaiian recording artist any where in the world. Working with one of the top internet specialist in Hawaii to develop this concept we found no software program in existence to emulate. We created the first interactive voting website on the internet and it proved to be successful in concept bringing tens of thousands of people to the site to vote in support of our recording musicians. In our best years there has been over ninety thousand actual votes from over a hundred countries, 48 states, and hundreds of music production companies worldwide with as much as three million hits in the three week window to vote.

As Hawaii’s first People’s Choice Awards it has been a gratifying experience in being a part of the good things that make Hawaii’s music community special. Mahalo to all who submit their recordings and to the voters in making Hawaii Music Awards a special way to support music from and about Hawaii.
