I have 1 hour before getting on the Qingdao Clipper and starting the adventure of a life time! The time seems to have come so quickly. Its been a very exciting week. Qingdao has been bubbling with life and excitement. The prize giving ceremony organized by the Olympic Sailing Committee was spectacular and everyone agreed it was the best so far. After the hard race from Singapore to Qingdao I think everyone was feeling a bit scared about this next leg. That was until the crew briefing yesterday and the encouraging speech by Sir Robin Knox-Jonstan. Everyone felt ready again for more sailing and the conquering of the Pacific. This race is the longest one so far with more than 4000 nautical miles to Hawaii. Tactics will also be a very important part of it.
Well, time to go now. Wonder if I have everything i will need. As Sir Robin said, it's not like you can flick through the channels of the TV when it gets tough, there is no where to go. He also said that this will be a tough but interesting race, one we will tell our grandchildren about. I am sure I will :)
All the best and will send you an update from Hawaii. In the mean time follow the race and Qingdao Clipper online at www.clipperroundtheworld.com
I have promised many and also myself we ill get to Hawaii first!
