Technology at Trailblazer

The past two years have been exciting for us all at Trailblazer Elementary in technology integration.  We have had four teachers that were selected to participate in the district’s Digital Educator Program for the 2006-2009 school years.  These four teachers received digital toolkits that included the following technology from the district ITS department and the Douglas County Educational Foundation: 4 Macbook laptops, 4 Projectors, 4 iPods, 3 Digital Video Cameras, 5 Canon Powershot Cameras, 1 Scanner, a Subscription to the Apple Digital Online Community , and a .Mac Account Subscription from Apple.  Our school is also able to select one teacher to represent our school as a “mentee” during each school year.  This person received a Macbook laptop and extra technology training from the district. 

The excitement of being in the Digital Educator Program is evident by our new mentors in the 2007-2010 and 2008-2011 groups.  Our school has 7 teachers who were selected by the district to participate in the mentor program starting in 2007, and then 3 teachers starting in 2008.  Each one of the new mentors will be receiving technology toolkits to use with their classrooms.  Their toolkits include items like Macbook laptops, video iPods with recording devices, digital video cameras, digital cameras, GPS units, Smart wireless slates, and scanners.  We’re so proud of their hard work!  We selected 3 mentees for the 2007-2008 school year, and 1 mentee for the 2008-2009 school eyar.  They will be received a laptop and training from the district.  During the 2008-2009 school year, Trailblazer will have a total of 14 teachers participating in the DCSD Digital Educator Program.  Wow!

Thanks to Linda Schneider and our wonderful TEA, we have also been able to provide every K-6 classroom with a projector and a document camera.  Teachers will now be able to hook up their laptops for technology instruction at any moment during the day.  Great things are happening at Trailblazer!  Thanks TEA!!!
