I am still a maker of things.
I am fascinated with materials, natural, synthetic, manufactured and unknown. Every trip outside is an adventure. I have jars on one of my walls loaded with found objects. All of these bits, ranging from computer mother board pieces, keys, buttons, beach-worn glass chips, bramble sticks, and who knows what else, will eventually make their way into a sculptural arrangement of some kind.
When I was a child I used to make my own toys out of yarn, cotton, nylon, wood, you name it. I just needed to explore the materials myself. In fact that was probably the greatest joy in play I had growing up. In many respects I still haven’t grown up.
I’m very happy about that.
