Oh, so I can post my Mobile Me galleries on my blog with iWeb? WELL... That makes posting a little easier. Check it out, the mobile galleries have some nice flash programming to create an even more interactive experience than before! Now if I could just add music...

And if anyone is trying this out too (or might like to learn with me?), do you know how to make the preview box a bit bigger?

About the photos: this was a very short but very packed-full vacation last year... and I’m looking forward to seeing my father and stepmother (and all my other relatives) again for the Fourth this year (in Missouri, expect pictures... and maybe the Manns Band? Baum Bojangles? The Playing Field?).

It is very beautiful, but there is some controversy on wether or not it is art and if Chihuly should get the credit.
The conservatory is filled with his glassworks, one of many installation art pieces across the country. There is also a good number of pieces for sale at each location - a prodigious amount of work. Artist Chihuly (his first name escapes me at the moment) hires a large staff to basically build most of the pieces for him in what amounts to an art factory. So is the art his if he himself did not build it? How much of each piece is designed by him? An interesting dilemma for modern artists.

The idea for this series came from the realization of how many photos I’ve taken in the summer and winter. Not that I have any-thing against this yin-yang symmetry, but fall is a unique and beautiful time in it’s own right. So I took a little walk in the local woods near my house.

I hope to make a whole four-seasons collection, and not only because it means I’ve been diligent with my hobby. Yes, winter is my favourite season, but the more I look for beautiful sights or scenes that resonate with me, the more I’ll feel alive in every time of the year: attention is the anti-zombie. Being a zombie is only fun on halloween.

For what it’s worth, I HAVE tried to take pictures that epitomize spring since I’ve taken these pictures, but spring is a flirtful mistress... it only lasts for a week and a half, the rest of the time looks like winter or summer. I’ll take this opportunity to blame
school for keeping me busy or tired, aka making me a zombie!

The song is “Crazy” by Gnarles Barkley, and it came out while I was on my trip. It seemed he wrote this song just for me and this slideshow, because of how well it fits.
All the folks in my group but two others and I must have thought we were crazy to climb sand for an hour to reach the peak of the highest sand dune. What they never got to know was how grand the scale of all the sand dunes hidden behind this first one was, something from fantasy that was totally worth the hike/climb/crawl. There were three other professional photographers up there already.
The rule was we had to return at sundown, so the two girls who made it with me (they’re in a few pictures), started to leave as soon as it started to get dark. They said I should come too, but I wouldn’t. I can’t believe they made it that far and missed the sunset! The sun came out from under a cloud, and everything was gold! The colour palette shifted to fire, then cooled down to embers and purples. Purple mountains majesty is not the product of imagination, folks. My last shot was the 3rd to last in this slideshow (10:29 pm), and I started huffing it back down. MUCH easier that direction (especially without taking pictures along the way), and I made it back in about 10-15 minutes. Of course they all yelled at me for being late, but then the sun sets much earlier in the shadow of the dunes!
This video is a hold-me-over until I put two new photo sessions online that I have. Reading more about the Online Galleries, I think that’s the way new slideshows should be, so after I find out if I can do it with my version of iLife I’ll put it up there with a link from here. So the Goodlight blog will still be your one stop shop!
Cheers!

Unpublished photo sessions:
Autumn ’07
Chihuly
Annelise’s Graduation party

I’ve been lax in updating... so here is a slice of what photos I’ve taken for my spring photo class. The selection will range from night atmosphere, self-portraiture, two abstract collections, Sky, leading lines, baby portraiture (Lily’s first birthday - Congratulations!), close-up, water (and light playing off it), and reflections. Comments & Critiques welcome, as I didn’t get any in class...
