      <title>Take a radical and a...what now?</title>

It's been more than a month, I am really sorry about that, hehe. But I am here, writing about....&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;KANJI.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;...Yup, kanji. The japanese kind. Kanji can be like this: &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;線&lt;br/&gt;栓&lt;br/&gt;宣&lt;br/&gt;選&lt;br/&gt;腺&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;And they all mean the same thing, sen. Even though they mean the same thing, their radicals and how they are written are different. Let's take a close up. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;線&lt;br/&gt;栓&lt;br/&gt;宣&lt;br/&gt;選&lt;br/&gt;腺&lt;br/&gt;閃&lt;br/&gt;You will see that they are very different from each other. Now, if you are wondering what a radical is, then here's your definition: a radical is what is added on to a kanji to make it different. For example, the second one, the kanji would be the icon on the left. In this case, the kanji is 木, or ki. Now, it is also combined with this kanji: 全, zen, to make the kanji sen. In this case, ki is the radical. Many, many kanji are made up of 2 or more smaller kanji. For example:&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;口、心、大&lt;br/&gt;(Kuchi, Kokoro, Dai)&lt;br/&gt;Could be used to make this: &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;恩&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Just to make it clearer that it IS using those three: &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;恩&lt;br/&gt;The Dai goes into the Kuchi and is placed over the Kokoro to make the On kanji. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Okay, how about this one: &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;森&lt;br/&gt;To make it bigger: &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;森&lt;br/&gt;Now, the ki kanji meant tree. As you can see, there are alot of trees here, so what would call this a kanji of? Maybe a forest? &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;And forest is correct, as this is called もり。&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Okay, this is harder:&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;炎&lt;br/&gt;Close up: &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;炎&lt;br/&gt;As you can see, this looks like two things stacked up on eachother. And they look the same. Let's see if we can find a version of just one of them. Like this: &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;火&lt;br/&gt;This one means Flame, so what do you think the one with two of them means?&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;If you said fire, you are correct. One last one. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;門&lt;br/&gt;This radical here means mon, or gate. Now, this is a very weird radical, due to the fact that it wraps AROUND the kanji. Like this:&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;間&lt;br/&gt;Or some other ones, like this:&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;閃&lt;br/&gt;Hey! That's the last kanji we saw in the &quot;Sen&quot; section! So this kanji means sen, which is brandish. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Well, that's all for today. Bye! &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;</description>

It's been a exact week since I last updated. So here's the update. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;So here I am on the plane back home. I'm basically going to write about everything that happened in &lt;br/&gt;Japan and post it all as one big update. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;START! &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Okay, so let's go through a countdown of my favorite things of Japan. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;3. THE FOOD&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Okay, I'm not going to lie. Japanese food isn't American food, that's for sure. But what it lacks in&lt;br/&gt;Americanality it comes back with style and taste. Oh, and how you want to eat your food comes in play&lt;br/&gt;too. For example, if you feel lazy and lax, you can order sushi. Or, you can go to a Kaiten Sushi: &lt;br/&gt;thats Convayer Belt Sushi in English. Basically how that works is you pick what you want to eat, and&lt;br/&gt;then eat it, and pay for it later. Or, you can go to a traditional sushi place, where you get to see&lt;br/&gt;the meat and fish before you order, and you can see how they make it. It all depends on you. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;2. THE ACTIVITIES &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Most Japanese places are trying to be like American places. Some have their own touch, such as a tea&lt;br/&gt;ceremony or a tradition play. Amusement parks can vary in cost and fun, but are a great way to spend &lt;br/&gt;the day and a great way to spend your money. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;1. THE TV&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Don't be surprised when I say that one of the best things in Japan is the news, 'cause it is. You &lt;br/&gt;have talk shows to news shows to game shows to just roundabout randomness. Oh, and did I mention the&lt;br/&gt;comedy? &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now, let's go into the sections in detail, by listing my favorites in the respective sections. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;3. THE FOOD: &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;3. SUSHI &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Ah, sushi. The native food of Japan, sushi is raw fish on vinegar rice. Not saying that there's a &lt;br/&gt;lot of vinegar; just saying that it's enough to make you realise. Now, it may not necesarilly be &lt;br/&gt;fish. Tops include Egg, Octopus, and Squid. The last 2 were fish, I know, but still, when was the &lt;br/&gt;last time YOU had a octopus roll? &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;2. ROYAL HOST&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;One of the best resteraunts, Royal Host bears good food at somewhat good prices. Now, don't get me &lt;br/&gt;wrong: this place is one of THE best. But, the menu does lack a little diversity, and there's not &lt;br/&gt;much a section between smoking and non-smoking. Some greats include a Club Sandwhich, a Curry Mix, &lt;br/&gt;and a 3 Pancake stack. Salads are about 94 cents, and a desert comes as low as 94 cents as well. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;1. CURRY &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;They thought Thick Paste on Rice wouldn't taste good, but NOOOOOO were they wrong. Heck, this meal&lt;br/&gt;is one of the easiest to make, because you can make it in 15 minutes! (That being said, the rice &lt;br/&gt;takes 2 hours.) Originated in India, this cuisine has developed a more sweet taste and is commonly&lt;br/&gt;filled with chicken, potato (POTAHTO), carrots, and onions. Being quite filling and tasting great, &lt;br/&gt;no wonder this got number 1 on my list. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;2: THE ACTIVITIES &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;3: THE ARCADE &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Okay, there are practicaly no Arcades where I live. Or, at least, where I can go. Now, in Japan, &lt;br/&gt;that changes. Every shopping mall usually has one. I went to the one in ITOYOOKADO/AIRO/YAMADADENKI.&lt;br/&gt;Now, This one uses the Medal system. In Japan, there are arcade games that involve betting on &lt;br/&gt;horses, shooting your coins to gain more coins, or just the regular slots and pachinko. I personally &lt;br/&gt;find the shooting coin cames interesting, and on my second try, I hit a jackpot of 200 coins. And &lt;br/&gt;that felt good, people. Sooooo good. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;2: THE ELECTRONIC DEVICES&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now now, all of you know that I love my DSl and My DSi so much, I bring em every vacation. And this&lt;br/&gt;was no exception. Now, on every vacation in japan, I buy at least some new games. The ones I bought &lt;br/&gt;this time around are Mario And Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Known in Japanese as Mario to Luigii &lt;br/&gt;Arupigi Suri, translated to &quot;Mario and Luigi RPG 3&quot;), Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Exploreres of the Sky&lt;br/&gt;(Known as Pokemon Fushigina Dongeon, Sorano Tankentai, translated as &quot;Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Sky&lt;br/&gt;Adventures&quot;), and Mother 3. (Known as Mazaa Suri, Or Mother 3). And, they are tons of fun. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;1: THE GOLF&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Mini golf, to be exact. I love mini golf, and when we went the the Dutch Themed amusement park, it &lt;br/&gt;was the only thing that we did. And I loved it. It was very fun, I enjoyed it alot. Not much else &lt;br/&gt;to say on this topic. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;1: THE TV &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;3: THE NEWS &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The news in America is okay, but it's nothing compared to the news in Japan. Now, whenever theres a&lt;br/&gt;new law or a new accident, then the news crew wil actually make a chart of that, and seal it with &lt;br/&gt;tape, and so when the question is asked, the tape is removed, and voila, the answer is there. And it&lt;br/&gt;just has this feel, like they are with you, answering your questions. It feels so nice. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;2: THE COMEDY &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Before I start off this section, I just want to share a song. It goes like this. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Zoo-san Zoo-san &lt;br/&gt;Oohana ga nagainone&lt;br/&gt;Soyo, Kaasanmo &lt;br/&gt;Nagainoyo &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now, that means....&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Elephant, Elephant&lt;br/&gt;You're nose is so very long &lt;br/&gt;Even your mother's &lt;br/&gt;is very long&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now, there's this comedy show where 6 people come out, and they try to get futons by making up funny&lt;br/&gt;phrases created by the host. Now, there's one that I like, that the prompto is &quot;You've just got &lt;br/&gt;back from home, and you complain about something. I then reply, Nagainone, which means That was long,&lt;br/&gt;wasn't it? Then you follow up, and make a joke.&quot; Now, let's do this. -One person raises their hands- &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Person: Zoooo-san, Zooooo-san, Ohanaga &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Host: Nagainone! &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Person: Sooooyo, kaaasanmo, naaagaiinoyoooouuu &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;That same person lost the round. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;1: THE QUIZ SHOWS&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;I love quiz shows. ILOVEEMILOVEEMILOVEEM. So, there's 2 quiz shows that I like. One's called NEP &lt;br/&gt;League, and it's a quiz show where 5 people must bond together to win. THe other one is called &lt;br/&gt;Q-sama (Translated as Sir Q), and that's where 10 people bond together to try to win a trip to &lt;br/&gt;Hawaii. Pretty fun, if ya ask me.       <description>This...is...so...slow....  &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now I pastebomb a blog update. This was written over 9 hours.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;.......&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Okay. I'm typing in the airport. In 20 minutes I'm going to board the airplane. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;I don't think I'm going to make it. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Okay, back to the point. I'm typing from my PowerBook G4, which is aluminum, just not a unibody. &lt;br/&gt;The trackpad is small though. But, it probably will suffice. Back to my mac should work, except for&lt;br/&gt;the fact that I'll be accessing it halfway across the world. Yay. And if that doesn't work, aka the&lt;br/&gt;speed is undearable, then we're going to try to tranfer files over to this mac so I can use direct &lt;br/&gt;iWeb. And if that doesn't work? &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Let's not think about that. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;..........&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Okay, here I am, riding on an airplane, with absolutely no idea if I'm going to survive or not. It's&lt;br/&gt;not the fact that I'm worried we might crash on the way here. I'm worried about crashing on the way &lt;br/&gt;back. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Gotta say though, this laptop comes pretty nicely charged. I'm getting about 2 hours of work? It's &lt;br/&gt;good enough. The new 17 inch Macbook Pros? 8 hours! Envy....&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;I'm also going to the apple store in Ginza. Not to buy anything, but to get a feel of what's &lt;br/&gt;different bbetween Apple Stores in America annd Apple Stores in Japan. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Gotta say though, this is pretty exciting. Because at anytime now, we might die, and that means that&lt;br/&gt;over 700 hundred bucks worth in my backback is going down the drain. Which brings up the question, if a hamburger doesn't have ham, then &lt;br/&gt;why is it called a hamburger? &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The world will never know. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;.......&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;We've been riding for 3 hours now. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;I'm thinking of going to slepep. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Tailwind is 18 miles per hour. And 2807 kilometers to go. We are now at Bristol Bay, Anchorage. &lt;br/&gt;Almost about to pass the international date line. And as soon as that happens? PAM! We time travel. &lt;br/&gt;Sweet. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Boy, am I bored. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;......&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Watching Front Nixon. And luckilly for them, they get a cloth to make sure &lt;br/&gt;they get good sleep.       <description>Okay, today was soo weird. So I'm going to japan on the 19th, and this time I'm going to update my blog while I'm there. Sounds all pretty good, right? So now there are a few options. I'll list them below. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;I bring the Leopard CD to my Grandparents to I can access my computer via Back to my Mac. &lt;br/&gt;I bring a family laptop that everbody uses, especially my dad to japan so I can use back to my mac. &lt;br/&gt;I don't update at all. &lt;br/&gt;I get a new laptop and bring to Japan. &lt;br/&gt;I bring my Mac Mini to Japan. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now, Let's go through each one and see what could go wrong. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;We've already used it 4 times, and my Mom hasn't upgraded yet. &lt;br/&gt;I see my dad and my baby sister using it almost everyday, and I don't wanna be a hinderance. &lt;br/&gt;No. &lt;br/&gt;I can't complain about this one, yet I know others will. &lt;br/&gt;Including my monitor and all the cables and everything? No! &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now here's what my dad (who, by the way, owns 2 laptops.) thinks in response to my responses. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Well, we can always buy a new Leopard CD. And Snow Leopard is coming soon. &lt;br/&gt;We can handle it. &lt;br/&gt;It's a possibility. &lt;br/&gt;It's too expensive. &lt;br/&gt;I'm just saying. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now obviously you all know which one I want. Number 4, right? Well, no. I've given up. I'm not gonna get one. I don't want one. I can't even sleep at night because my window has a laptop outline. I DREAM of getting one in my sleep, even though I know it's a hallucination. I'm not kidding! Sure, maybe sometime my life it's going to happen, but not now. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;But as for the blog updates, I'm using choice 2, and using back to my mac, I'll be able to update my blog, even though it's slower than a snail. It's basically a 512 MB computer, which is what I ran before I got 1 GB. And that laptop only has 1 GB. Like I say, it would be much easier to get my own laptop, but let's not talk about that. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;I also want to get iLife 09, because with that I could update this blog, but it doesn't look like we're getting it. It comes free on every new laptop too, hem hem, forget it. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;AUGH! I just cannot forget the Laptop! I confess, I want it with all my heart and soul. Okay, maybe not all of it, but most of it. It's the only big thing I asked for this year. Well, besides the trip to japan, but I usually do that every year. And I payed for my DSi as well. You want me to skip vacations for a Macbook? YES! Do you want me to sell my DSi so that I could pay a little towards a Macbook? YES! Would you give away your Mac Mini to the poor for a Macbook? YES! Will my parents buy me one? NO! Will you agree to not get anything else for the next year and for your birthday's and Xmas's for a Macbook? YES! Is this the only thing you want? NO! But it is the only thing that I'm asking for. And I will need it for Early Start and more. One of the main reasons I'm asking for one is for insta check my mail, because I don't have a iPod touch or a iPhone. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Well, I'll probably do one more update before I start using the slow, slow, slow, Back to my Mac.       <description>Wha? 2 updates in one day? Impossible! &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Well actually, I felt the need to add another one. Why? Because...it's time for....&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;A BOOK REPORT! (Reader: Yay.) &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now today's book report is about &quot;The Pearl Harbor Myth: Rethinking the Unthinkable,&quot; a book by George Victor. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;-------------&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Pearl Harbor. One of the most memorable events in American History. And one of the most terrible ones as well. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&quot;Air Raid Pearl Harbor. This is not a drill. Repeat: This is not a drill.&quot; Hundreds of people woke up to the blaring alarm as the attack started. Bomber and fighter airplanes soared through the sky, aiming for the battleships. Why did Japan attack Hawaii and the Americas? Did Roosevelt know? &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The attack on pearl harbor was supposed to get even with the U.S., because the U.S. was stopping supplies when Japan started to advance into Malaya in order to get oil and rubber. Then from the Export Control Act, the U.S. halted shipments of airplanes, parts, and more to Japan, which was taken as a unfriendly act. They did not stop importing oil to Japan, until the Japanese expanded into the French Indochina. Roosevelt had moved the Pacific Fleet to Hawaii by then, but did not have any idea that that would cause the attack. The thought of attack of Pearl Harbor had begun when the oil exports were stopped, to not only get even, but to also protect the Southern Resource Area. It was also made to buy time so that Japan could enhance it's Naval Fleet. And on December 1st, 1941, the approval to attack was given by the emperor. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;The book is not about the attack as much as events that led up to it. If you are curious about the things that made the attack happen, then this book is for you. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;---------&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now that that's over, I will now talk about my pride and joy. Laptops! Yay! &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;So there are lots of laptops for windows, because Microsoft makes the software, not the actual laptop, which comes from many people. Now Apple makes both the hardware and the software, so you're getting things from one store. Now, as most of you all know, from my previous update, I have been eyeing the Aluminum 13 inch Macbooks, which come in a 2.0 GHz processor and a 2.4 GHz processor, which aren't that different, except the 2.4 runs faster, and has a light-up keyboard. They both run a Intel Processer, just like the polycarbonate 1st Gen Macbook, with the plastic shell. However, it does not have a firewire input plug, unlike the previous gen. It makes up for that by getting a EPEAT GOLD rating, compared to the 1st Gen's EPEAT SILVER. Also, now the entire trackpad is the button, so all you have to do is press down to click. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;And just make this all clear, we also have the MacBook Pros, which are better, but more expensive. There are 15 and 17 inch versions, and the 17 inch's battery can be charged up to hold 8 hours, while the 13 and 15 inch aluminum hold up to 5 hours, and the white 13 holds 4.5. Now the processors at the least 2.4 GHz and 2.66 GHz, for the 15 and 17 respectively. However, you can upgrade both of them up to a 2.93 GHz Processors. Both have a back-lit keyboard, which I think is awesome. The Pros have a firewire input plug, but the only difference is that the 17 inch has 3 USB ports. And, the 17 inch comes with a whopping 4GB, while all the others come with 2 gigs. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now we have the Macbook Air, which is a 3 pound machine, and .16 inches thin. It comes with a full sized backlit keyboard, a USB port, and a iSight, but all laptops come with the iSight. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now for the prices. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Macbook 1st Gen: 999&lt;br/&gt;Macbook 2nd Gen 2.0 GHz: 1299&lt;br/&gt;Macbook 2nd Gen 2.4 GHz: 1599&lt;br/&gt;Macbook Pro 15 inch 2.4 GHz: 1999&lt;br/&gt;Macbook Pro 15 inch 2.66 GHz: 2499&lt;br/&gt;Macbook Pro 17 inch 2.66 GHz: 2799&lt;br/&gt;Macbook Air 1.6 GHz: 1799&lt;br/&gt;Macbook Air 1.86 GHz: 2499&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Now due to the fact that I am a student, I do get an educational discount on these, but not much. My personal favorites are the Macbook 2nd Gen, preferably the 2.4 GHz processor, but the 2.0 is great as well.       <description>'Ello, and welcome to my blog for first timers. And if you're a returning guest, then, well, I really guess the welcome doesn't change. Welcome. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;So I've been attacking my colllections of rubik's cubes. Or rubix cubes, as I like to call. So far I have a 5x5, a 3x3, and a Megaminx. What is a megaminx, you say? It's a isocahedron w/ star center-edges. And it also has 12 sides. And, it seemingly is easier to solve than a regular 3x3, because you have more free sides. However, I haven't learned how to solve it. I can solve a 3 by 3, and working on a 5x5. It's basically a 21 (3*3*3 = 21!) with 8 more centers, and 8 more edges. but once you get the centers and edges, then it's basically a 3x3. But it's not as hard as a 4x4 or a 6x6, because you have set centers, because on a even sided cube, because when you think about it, on a even sided cube there are no set centers.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Speaking of which, I have a friend named Jalen who put automotive grease in his cube, so now it turns crazy good. Now all we need to do is go to the move, and solve one there. Move a side, and it rotates forever! &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;On another note, my friend Zeke has ordered some 2x2 cubes, which are basically all corners. And there's also the long lost friend that was never used, the 1x1. And if you take off the stickers of a cube, then you have a black cube! do anything, and it's solved! Yay! &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;While we're talking about nerdy stuff, why not talk about math? (Entire audience of readers pass out) No no, not math math. Just that math competitions. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;My team got 12th place in the statewide Math Championships for 8th grade, even though or team average is around 7.25th grade. And in the statewide Math Olympiad? &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;We were the only 8th grade team that got medals! Yay!&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Also, while we're talking nerd, I got a new calculator! A TI-nSpire. It &quot;nspires&quot; me to make programs. (Reader: BAD PUN!) Yeah, it's a replacement for my lost one. My TI-84. You shall ever rest in peace...I think. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Also, it is worthy of noting that this is my first update from my new laptop! &quot;REALLY?&quot; you ask. No. Still from my power PC mac mini. But a new laptop is what I'm saving up for, though it is highly expensive, and I honestly don't think that I am going to get one, but still, it's a good thing to have a goal. Money Managment 101!
