Rimrock Church’s

Passion for Discipleship

Rimrock Church has a passion for the Great Commission.  To see it fulfilled inside the walls of our Church fellowship [our own Jerusalem] , but also to participate [by the Holy Spirit’s work in us and in our world] in outreach to our Judea [the Black Hills Region] and the utter most parts of the earth.

All aspects of the Rimrock Church fellowship, from pulpit ministry, growth classes, children and teen ministry, small group “life groups”, to the worship and missions ministries – all are geared to advance this great commission.

To understand this better, is to better understand the “core” of The Great Commission - Matt 28:19-20

Go then and make disciples of all the nations,

baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

teaching them to observe everything that

I have commanded you,

and behold, I am with you all the days to the close and consummation of the age.  Amen

The Rimrock discipleship ministry seeks to focus on the simplicity of this charge.

What did Jesus teach,

and help each other understand and live as HE lived – Surrendered.

Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]  Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.  Phil 2:5-7 AMP

Jesus lived “surrendered” to the Life of the Father within Him

“the things you see me doing “are not me doing them …..but the Father doing them in me”

John 14:10 Jesus taught -- Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me? What I am telling you I do not say on My own authority and of My own accord; but the Father Who lives continually in Me does the works (His own miracles, deeds of power). AMP

John 5:19 Jesus taught -- So Jesus answered them by saying, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the Son is able to do nothing of Himself (of His own accord); but He is able to do only what He sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father does is what the Son does in the same way [in His turn]. AMP

John 5:30 Jesus taught – I am able to do nothing from Myself [independently, of My own accord--but only as I am taught by God and as I get His orders]. Even as I hear, I judge [I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the voice comes to Me, so I give a decision], and My judgment is right (just, righteous), because I do not seek or consult My own will [I have no desire to do what is pleasing to Myself, My own aim, My own purpose] but only the will and pleasure of the Father Who sent Me. AMP

We pray that at Rimrock Church, we are faithful to accurately divide the Word and to show forth the person of Jesus Christ, and to be a place where new, old, victorious or struggling believers can enter into the mystery of the gospel.

Foremost, Rimrock’s pulpit ministry desires to express this mystery, hidden until revealed in the Life of Jesus.

2 Cor 3:6  [It is He] Who has qualified us [making us to be fit and worthy and sufficient] as ministers and dispensers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not [ministers] of the letter (of legally written code) but of the Spirit; for the code [of the Law] kills, but the [Holy] Spirit makes alive. [Jer 31:31.] AMP

This mystery Paul said which is “Christ within and among you, the hope of glory.”

Col 1:26-27 The mystery of which was hidden for ages and generations [from angels and men], but is now revealed to His holy people (the saints), To whom God was pleased to make known how great for the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery , which is Christ within and among you, the Hope of [realizing the] glory. AMP

Secondly, Rimrock offers Growth Classes on Sunday morning  to further “teach what Jesus taught.”

These are often topical, but are based on a core discipleship approach around Biblical foundations and applications of faith.   The Sunday Morning 9:01 AM Ministries feature these “Growth Class Opportunities”.

The ” Core Discipleship” Growth Class stretches over 30 weeks, in three parts.

  1. The first 10 weeks are devoted to Biblical Foundations of Faith, of which the life of Jesus is the cornerstone.

• The second 10 weeks transition to the practical application of the things “that   Jesus taught”.  We call these 10 weeks “How Shall We Then Live”.

• The final 10 weeks finishes off by addressing 10 big questions Christians ask about their faith, and what it means to walk in the Spirit.
