Today, a link to my friend Emily’s blog.  She features friends and artists every so often, asking them to list their 10 favorite things, and today it’s my turn--thanks, Emily!  A little bit about Emily:  we met in what can only be called the strangest season of both our lives.  We lived in the same apartment building in Santa Barbara, two Chicago girls in a wild West Coast playground.  We went to Las Vegas together once, with like seventy five other people, all in one hotel room.  Like you do, when you’re in college in Santa Barbara.  I do distinctly remember singing the Indigo Girls’ version of Romeo and Juliet with her, and with great gusto, at the Summerland house, where all manner of strange and wonderful and terrible things happened.  That memory falls into both the “strange” and “wonderful” categories. 

Now she lives in El Paso, and I will tell you that my own appearance on her blog has nothing to do with how much I enjoy it.  She collects images with the eye of an artist, or a curator, maybe, and when the world feels like it’s all strip-malls and baskets of unfolded laundry, her blog is a treat, a beautiful place to visit on days of monotony and junk mail.  Check it out: http://wideopenspaces.squarespace.com/
