Turning East Retreat

Turning East Retreat is laid out like a tropical village of Asian inspired dwellings on the Island of Hawaii, also called the Big Island, in the lower Puna district.  Turning East Retreat offers stunning ocean views and is steps way from the clothing optional black sand beach in Kehena.  Lower Puna is an area that is famous for its magnificent flora.  This side of the Big Island is home to waterfalls, black sand beaches, great snorkeling, volcanic activity, lush green tropical drives, volcanic steam vents and breathtaking hikes.

Turning East Retreat is approximately 30 miles south of Hilo and 11 miles from Pahoa, where you can find shopping and some good restaurants.  There is also a small store and drive in restaurant in Kalapana, which is 3 miles from us.  Also just minutes away is Kalani Oceanside Retreat, which offers a day use pass (pool, hot tubs, sauna), volleyball, yoga classes, and has a great place to eat and meet people.  Massage and Watsu are available close by and at our retreat for an extra charge.

For those with allergies, please know that there are people-loving-dogs on the property.

Turning East Retreat is open between the months of April to November.
