About Shanon Bell
After 23 years as a professional model, I decided to move from "in front of" the camera to "behind" the camera and work with some of my favorite people on the planet…children!
As a model, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to work with world -renowned photographers, learning from them and picking up invaluable tips. Nothing is more exciting than taking that experience and knowledge and translating it into a wonderful memory for a family.
Eight years ago, God blessed my husband, Glenn, and me with twins – a boy and a girl. So, when I first picked up a camera, I started taking photos of what was around me...my kids!
Then, I moved on to my friends’ kids and now specialize in children's lifestyle photography. Simply stated, I capture kids just being kids! Laughing, interacting, loving and playing. This relaxed approach allows a child’s personality to shine!

It is a record of their childhood to be remembered always!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I want to document my child’s first year of life. When should I schedule my sessions?

A: We want to hit the important milestones in your child’s life. I recommend shooting the following: newborn, sitting up (around six to seven months) and first birthday. Keep in mind that I produce beautiful custom birth announcements and birthday cards – a perfect complement to your first year photos.

Q: Where are photographs taken?

A: For newborns, I prefer to take the photographs in the comfort of your home. For children and families, you name the place – your home, backyard or favorite park. Or, I have a selection of fantastic locations to choose from. When shooting outdoors, the best light falls in the early morning, so we need to start our session around 8:30 a.m.

Q: What should we wear?
A: Here are a few styling tips for the day of your shoot.

·         Your child should be comfortable but stylish.
·         Bright colors look fabulous!
·         Interesting textures.
·         Hats are really fun – I especially love knitted ones.
·         Cool blankets for newborn sessions with interesting textures, fun colors.
·         Birthday suit for newborn shots.
·         Anything brightly colored and knit…LOVE IT!
·         White onesies give a pure and simple look.

Q: What should we bring to the shoot?
A: Blankets, any favorite toy – especially those that make noise (to get the child’s attention). Snacks are wonderful. I’m always willing to take a snack break. Feel free to bring several outfit options – we’ll do as many changes of clothing as the child will allow. Costumes are fun too!

Q: How long does the photo shoot last?

A: It depends on the type of session, how many children and how old they are. On average, sessions will last anywhere from one to three hours. Newborn shoots typically take up to three hours. Children ages three months to four years old have reached their limit at about an hour. Older children can sometimes go as long as two hours. We’ll keep shooting as long as the fun lasts.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: I accept cash or check.

Q: Is there a sitting fee?

A: Yes, the sitting fee is $50 and is due on the day of the shoot.

Q: When will my photos be ready?

A: Two to three weeks after your photo session, I will provide edited and retouched images on my blog for you to see and share with your friends and family. We will then need to make another appointment to go over the photos together and place your order. Prints take two to three weeks to come in. Please be sure to make your appointment for ordering photos within two weeks of your session posting date. After 14 days, any print discount will no longer be available.

Q: Do you offer gift certificates?

A: Yes. Contact me to discuss options.

Q: Are your images protected by copyright?

A: Yes, all images are the property of Shanon Bell Photography and are copyrighted by law. I offer excellent pricing on prints. If you need a digital copy of an image, it can be purchased. Contact me for details.
