What I really believe she was saying was this. "I don't get what a blog is! You're talking about things that are new to me... there is always something different to read... it is different-looking to me every time I visit... and why should I leave a comment? I talk to you on the telephone every single day! I don't think it should be called a 'Blog-page... It should be called a Blab-page!"

Aha! She's hit the nail right on the head.

A blog is like a personal, online magazine that is updated frequently.

There are more blogs on the internet that you can even fathom. Surfing the blog-o-sphere is like going down the rabbit hole for me! It just gets curiouser and curiouser, as Alice would say. You can find a blog about ANYTHING! Go ahead and try it! Just google any word and put "blog" behind it and see what comes up. Go ahead. Try it!

I told you so!

Anyway. The subject of my fair blog is "Things That Inspire." The posts on my blog are all intended to inspire you to live your life to the fullest and create some cool stuff along the way. I want to show people that you can be who you want, raise children, live a life and still listen to those urges that say things like, "Go ahead! See what it would feel like to dip your bare toe in the snow!" Or, "So what if you look a little silly doing it! As long as you're having fun, why not?"

So there absolutely should be new content. Now, it won’t be every single day, and that’s because I'm so busy being inspired to live largely and all...

I do frequently change the look of my blog. It is my genuine hope that I can get it configured exactly as I want it and will leave it that way forever and ever, amen. But that hasn't happened yet. I'll let you know when it does. So if you ever come to visit and can't figure out where things are, shoot me an e-mail, and I'll let you know.

Now about Commenting. I'll say it again, but louder, to make sure you are paying attention: COMMENTING.

Commenting is a blog-reader's (that's you) way of letting the blog-writer (that's me) know that you are out there. If the blog-readers aren't doing their job (commenting!) then the blog-writer doesn't know that you're out there! Commenting is like the bread and butter of blogging! We blog-writers LIVE AND DIE for comments, good, bad and/or ugly.

You should consider the comments as your opportunity to tell me, "Right on!" or "I don't THINK so!" or "You are a kind of crazy that I didn't know even existed in this world!" Comments don't have to be long. A simple, "thank you, I enjoyed that!" or "I agree" make me do a little happy dance that lasts all day long!

Just do it, for heaven's sake, every time you visit my blog and let me know you're out there! And when you do, imagine me dancing, just like Ellen. (=

As for my mom's last comment, the one about the blab-page, well, I guess she is right. I love to think, and I love to talk, and I see my blog as my own little soapbox. I try not to get grumpy on the blog, because I want you to come back! I want you to leave feeling uplifted and happy! And most of all, I want you to walk away from your computer and feel inspired to try something new that makes you feel good about the life you are living.

So that is blogging in my little nutshell. Please feel free to comment with anything you'd like to say.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

So, around Christmas time, I created a little web site for friends and family with "fun fotos" from the wonderful past year. My mom called me immediately after she saw it and said,"I love this! It's so much better than your blog! I like it because it has the kids on it!"

Thanks, Mom, for the vote of confidence! Just kidding. (=
