1. These questions aren’t ones that people frequently ask me... instead, they come from those “get to know you” quizzes that friends send me via email...

  2. I figure if they are interested, you might be also...

  3. Send me a quiz, and I’ll answer your questions too!

Wrapping paper or gift bags?

Wrapping paper. I think gift bags are a cop out... not that I never use them, though...

Real tree or Artificial?

Real. No question.

When do you put up the tree?

When I get tired of my kids asking, “Mom-mmmeeeee! When are we going to put up the Christmas tree?” I would prefer to follow the German tradition of waiting until Christmas Eve to put up a tree.

When do you take the tree down?

My husband usually does this, so I get no say so... but I do prefer it up through New Year’s Eve. I love the crossover deco effect.

Do you like eggnog?

Yes! And I love making it too!

Favorite gift received as a child? My adoption doll, Susan Alice. She came to me all of the way from Xavier Roberts in Cleveland, Georgia, yellow pigtails and all. Her dress said, “Mon Amour,” and her eyes were blue. I dressed her, fed her and performed surgery on her. She was the best.

Hardest person to buy for?

My Dad.

Easiest person to buy for?

My kids.

Do you have a nativity scene?

Yes, several... one made of olive wood... several as Christmas tree ornaments... one as a snow globe... this is what you collect from parishioners when your husband is a priest!

Mail or email Christmas cards?

Handmade, snail mail cards, although not always at Christmas... sometimes for the New Year.

Worst Christmas gift you ever received?

Well, it’s not the worst (I can’t think of what that would be), but it is the funniest... a giant box of 42 gourmet hot cocoas in seven delicious flavors. We liked to have never gotten rid of those things!

Favorite Christmas Movie?

Charlie Brown, Holiday, When Harry Met Sallie (oops) Sally

When do you start shopping for Christmas?

November.

Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?

If I did, I don’t remember.

Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?

Homemade toffee.

Lights on the tree?

Uh, I could be wrong, but isn’t that the whole point of a Christmas tree? Jesus is the light of the world, and you light the candles (electric lights) on the longest, darkest night of the year to signify that fact... So yes, lights on the tree. Non-negotiable.

Favorite Christmas song?

Lo, How a Rose Ere Blooming

Travel at Christmas or stay home?

I want to be happy in a million ways, for the holidays it’s home sweet home!

Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's?

Yes: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder and Blitzen... and don’t forget his most famous reindeer of all... Rudolph! (And I didn’t even cheat!)

Angel on the tree top or a star?

Angel, for now.

Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning?

Christmas morning

Most annoying thing about this time of the year?

The song “Blue Christmas” by Elvis; it is the back up singers that kill this one for me! Wouldn’t you agree?

Favorite Ornament theme or color?

I love and collect Christopher Radko ornaments. It is my desire to one day have a large tree full of them! I don’t have the Beetle one shown at right... if anyone sees it in a store, will you let me know so I can get one?

Favorite for Christmas dinner?

Finger foods... good for snacking on all day long.

What do you want for Christmas this year?

See my list of desires from September 18, 2008.

Who is least likely to respond to this?

My friend who sent me these questions said I was least likely to respond... well, I’ve given her a pleasant surprise! Thanks, Jennifer!

If you could build a house anywhere, where would it be?
Let’s see... I’m a city girl, so I would choose NOT to build, but instead renovate a building in a bustling area that has about four stories and a storefront on the bottom, with cute display windows. It is my dream to just walk downstairs to work. The renovation of the living space would include shiny wood floors, exposed brick walls, an open floor plan, and modern furnishings... like the one in this photo - Cargo Portside Grill in Brunswick, Georgia
