I’m your host the occasionally right, somewhat honorable Dr. T. G. Hokum inviting you and yours to spend an hour taking the cure with the finest in old-time, blues, country, jazz and gospel with a dash of the exotic. Right before your ears I’ll be brewing up various batches of elixers, calmatives and revitalizers specially designed to soothe the mind, activate the feet and touch the soul. Yes friends, the Audiological Phantasmagoria is here to counteract the malaise of the modern world.

We feature music from some masterful artists in this installment beginning with the New Orleans supergroup The Red Onion Jazz which featured not only Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet but also Alberta Hunter. The second set includes a sublime swing piece legendary French accordion player/composer Gus Visuer and our third set is comprised of no less than 4 aces. The third set includes one of the earliest Appalachian song collectors, folklorist and performer Bascam Lamar Lundsford, the sparse, raw pickin’ of Dock Boggs on one of his uncharacteristic lighter sides, the great blues piano player Charlie Spand and finally the haunting sounds of Delta blues master Skip James. We conclude the podcast with a spritely Hawaiian tune, blue yodeler Roy Evans, the Cottontop Mountain Sanctified Singers performing one of my favorite gospel sides and we finish it off with a couple of crispy, hot jazz tracks. Enjoy friends, and thanks for bringing your ears on by!
