False Alarm People
We thought Alex was going to be here yesterday but that little trickster fooled us. It started Friday. I was having strong contractions all day. Around 3 pm I decided to start timing them. They were about 2-3 minutes apart and at one point got down to 1 minute apart for about 20 minutes. I decided to call my OB and she told me to go to labor and delivery. So we packed up the car and headed over to Baylor in rush hour traffic. On the way, I started to have a feeling that things were slowing down. My contractions were lengthening to about 5 minutes apart so we decided to take Roarke to my mom’s house and have dinner.
We arrived at the hospital around 8 pm and got checked in and hooked up to the monitors. Contractions had picked up again and Alex was doing great. I was only 2-3 cm so I started walking around to get things going. But 2 hours later I was still only 2-3 cm and excepting for the contractions getting stronger, I wasn’t making any progress. So we decided to go home with the assurance that we would most likely be back in the wee hours of the morning.
Well now it’s Sunday and still no baby. Contractions are still intense at times but they are very erratic. I’ve been walking, got a mani/pedi, eating spicy food (despite the horrible heartburn), and I even made labor cookies yesterday (which by the way are very good). It seems like the only thing I’m inducing is heartburn. Oh well!
It’s really frustrating but I guess Alex is just not ready. He/she hasn’t even dropped yet. I just have to be patient and try to enjoy these last few days.
