Affton Dream Garden Contest
The purpose of the contest is to recognize and thank those who have beautified the Affton community through their gardening efforts.
The criteria for nominating gardens for the contest are that they are either located within the 63123 area code of the Affton post office or located within the Affton School District.
The contest’s purpose and entrance criteria
The Affton Dream Garden Contest is now in its 8th year, sponsored by the Affton Community Betterment Association.
The contest coordinators are Linda Virga and Elaine Fortner, who along with past contest winners, Bob Counts, Barbara Fogg, Larry Hansen, Ron Mueller, Patrick O’Neill, Mary Prchlik, Jim Slama, and former Affton citizen of the year, Gene Murphy, served as judges.
This year’s winners will be honored at the Affton Days celebration held in September.
To nominate a garden for the next contest
Individuals are encouraged to nominate their own garden or another’s garden for the 2010 contest. Send the garden owner’s name, address, phone number and categories for consideration to:

Categories include: shade, edible or herb, water feature, butterfly, colorful, peaceful, fragrant, formal, wildlife, container, natural landscape, old-fashioned, or your own choice to describe the type of garden.
