One of these years I’m going to attend this annual spectacle, but not this year. Since, I can’t be there to personally witness all the chaos firsthand, I’m simply going to allow the world wide web to be my eyes and ears. Rather than give my usual account of goings on in my life, this post is dedicated to all things Comic Con (comics, movies, announcements rumors etc...). Since the con lasts all weekend expect this entry to be updated.
Here’s a brief rundown of a few of the show’s highlights.
A couple of noteworthy comic announcements have already been made, and I suspect by the end of Saturday, there will be more juicy gossip to be had.

Jeff Smith announced the return of Bone in 2010! Familiar characters and new adventures are in the works, and I can’t wait. And speaking of Jeff Smith...
Fantagraphics announced they’ll be publishing The Complete Pogo in a format similar to that of their Complete Peanuts series. Jeff Smith has been asked to help out with books’ designs.

If the return of Bone isn’t enough reason to uncork the champaign, Terry Moore’s announcement that the rights to produce a big-screen ECHO adaptation have been sold in a six figure deal by the good folks that brought us WATCHMEN! I do hope this comes to fruition and his works finds the bigger audience they deserve.
Joe Quesada announced Marvel now owns the exclusive rights to Marvelman (a.k.a. Miracleman). For the benefit of those unfamiliar with the significance of this, please more about the legal battle over the rights to this title can be found here. The terms of the deal weren’t fully detailed, and after reading several news reports, I’m still uncertain as to whether or not Marvel also owns the rights to Neil Gaiman and Alan Moore’s controversial run. Time will tell.
The Tron Legacy trailer made its second debut, this time as an official downloadable version. Some of you may recall similar footage was shown at last year’s Escape From Witch Mountain panel. Lousy cellphone captured footage briefly made its way onto YouTube before being removed at Disney’s request. Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland trailer (again from Disney) also debuted this week, only to be promptly removed then reposted again the next day. Sources say IGN jumped the gun posting the trailer a day early. When will they ever learn, once it’s on the net, the trailer is out there. Both trailers are shown below, but much nicer 1080p HD QuickTime versions are available online at Disney’s website.
