Poorman Volunteer Fire Department

There was a board meeting held at Joanne’s house on the first day of June that was very well attended by the community.  Some of the discussion centered on our aging fire fighting apparatus and weather or not we should just sell it.  The consensus seemed to be that we liked having more than just shovels, hoses, rakes, and hand-held extinguishers.

Another topic was that of training.  In the future there may even be more than one training day a year.  This year’s training day is set for the third  Saturday in july, the 16th,

The last thing discussed was the upcoming “Slash Day”.  This year slash will not be picked up.  Rather, it will be piled by driveways and chipped at a later date.  The chips will be hauled off (unless you want them).  There will be several saws out in the neighborhood this Saturday to take care of “problem areas”.

Here’s the latest news from the neighborhood

The Poorman Volunteer Fire Department was formed in the “70s to coordinate the response to emergencies in the Poorman area.
