"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out
of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for. That, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
Thomas Jefferson
“If once the people become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, Judges and Governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature, in spite of individual exceptions.”
Thomas Jefferson
"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

The higher type of man clings to virtue, the lower type of man clings to material comfort. The higher type of man cherishes justice, the lower type of man cherishes the hope of favors to be received.
Confucius (551-479 BC) Chinese Philosopher
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
George Washington

Winston Russell has received the following answer to his inquiry regarding the use of Class-A uniforms by retired personnel at funerals, etc
Winston,
I was asked to respond to a question that you had asked the Fire Chief
reference to retirees keeping and wearing their Class A uniforms to fire
department functions. It was determined that we have not been consistent with what uniforms retirees can retain upon separation. Recently, the Department has allowed members honorably retiring with at least 10 years of service to retain their badge, helmet, t-shirts, and sweat clothing. The Fire Chief and I agreed that this policy was sound and should be followed. We struggled with allowing retirees to retain their Class A uniform in fear that they would wear them to official functions as a representative of the Department without any accountability for grooming. Please feel free to call me if you would like too discuss further. Thanks again!

TWO WOLVES
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.
"One is Evil - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
"The other is Good - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
